Card Trick

Andre' shows Tori a card trick.

Andre' was sitting in Sikowitz' empty classroom shuffling a deck of cards like a Las Vegas black jack dealer. He was so into what he was doing that he didn't hear the door open and close.

'Wow! You must be the most talented person in this school. Singer, writer, instrumentalist, card shark. Is there anything you can't do?'
Andre' stopped what he was doing and looked up at his brunette haired half Latino friend. 'Hey Tor.' He thought for a second and then answered her. 'I can't suck my big toe. What are you doing here?'

Tori smiled having remembered Cat's random thought video. 'I was actually looking for you. I wanted to rehearse the songs for the play next week.'

'Cool. How about I show you a card trick first?'

'Sure.' Tori took a seat across from Andre'. If she was paying attention she would heard his sharp intake of breathe when her arm lightly brushed his.

Andre' shuffled the deck and then spread the cards in his hands. 'Pick a card. Any card'

Tori picked a card and looked at it. It was the three of clubs. 'Now put it back in the deck.' Tori placed the card in the deck away from where she originally took it. Andre' shuffled the deck four times. Tori watched trying to figure out how he was going to find her card. He placed the cards on the stage and ran his hand along the side of the deck as if sensing her card. When he found it he cut the deck. He confidently fllipped the top card over. 'That's your card.' It was the queen of hearts.

'Nope, sorry. I think you did the trick wrong or you need more practice.'

'No, I did it right.', he sighed and looked at her. He picked the card up and handed it to her. 'The reason this is your card is because you're the queen of my heart. You have been since I smelled the fish fungus on your fingers.' He smiled. 'I just didn't know how to tell you.'

Tori looked at the queen of heart in her hand and then at Andre'. 'Wow. I had know idea you felt that way.'

'It's ok if you don't feel the same way. I've seen the way you look at Beck. I just wanted you to know.' Andre' laughed to himself to release the tension he felt building. 'So let's rehearse the songs.' He started to get up when she placed a hand on his arm.

'I like you too Andre'. You're the reason I'm even in this school. You believed in me when I didn't believe in myself. I think, no, I know we'd be great together.' She stood up and kissed him on the cheek. She place her hand in his and intertwined their fingers. 'So how did you know that was my card?'

'Magic. Besides I couldn't really express what I was feeling with the three of clubs.'
