I don't even know what this is, so don't ask. All I know is .. it came out of nowhere.
I own nothing.
x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x
(It begins as a whisper. A ghost of words, reflections of negative after-images. A flicker on an old TV screen, nothing but free static, muffled and erratic. But he sees it. Hears it. Follows it.
It beckons with clawed fingers, a smile that boasts fangs. Eyes glowing red know he will come, the allure of that sickness too deep, too thick to ignore. The sweet scent of her hair, the soft song offered by her voice, a plea –)
That's not fair!
(He falls. Dredges up the strength from somewhere around the base of his spine to keep moving, the weight of the responsibility he carries suddenly seeming too much, grinding down on brittle bones that threaten to give way beneath him. Leave him in a crumpled heap, surrounded by the sound of those taunting voices.
He picks himself up again. His jaw is set in a firm, unforgiving line. Teenage determination holds nothing to that which drives him forward – though the air in his lungs is tainted with acid, and it burns, he gasps another vague shape of her name and throws himself into the deepening spiral.)
I swear I'll get you out of this. I'm sorry –
(He hears it. That rumble of laughter, taunting, teasing, and he growls. An animalistic, feral pull on the thread wound around his neck, and he thrashes, straining so hard he'll break himself before anything else gives.)
I swear –
Kyrie –
(Those eyes are growing red again. Sharp and menacing, maniacal. Dangerous. And then he realizes –
he's looking at a reflection.)
Fear me.
(It catches him by surprise. The way that mouth leers at him, as if that reflection knows something he doesn't. Knowing that it might sets his teeth on edge, and when he steps forward, so does that shadow. They meet somewhere in the middle, and that pulsating blue light creeps beneath the surface of his skin. He feels … good.)
These are my demons.
(He licks chapped lips. Funny, they don't hurt anymore.)
This is my sin.
(To save her …)
Let them come.
