The Lovers
Small gusts of wind could be felt every now and then. It whispered in their ears, flowed through hair and caressed skin like a breath, which caused shivers down spines.
Eyes closed softly in pure bliss.
Hot tears crawling hesitantly and fiercely at the same time.
They stood together. At the edge of the world, and stared.
The sun was just setting, and it felt like the sun was dieing.
It sunk below eyesight, and colours bled through the sky, covering everything in pinks, reds and oranges.
Hands were entwined.
Souls were entwined.
Ones breath hitched, the other smiled.
They would not regret anything that had happened, but they had no choice.
It was the only way they could be together, and if they could only be together in heaven… Then so be it.
Eyes locked.
Beautiful emerald green met passionate molten silver, and through these, many emotions were set free.
The feeling of freedom, love, bliss and fear were shared, along with tentative smiles.
Hands were squeezed in reassurance.
The smaller one leaned up and captured the other's lips in a kiss.
Almost a goodbye kiss, but it was one that was to be finished later.
Another time.
Another life.
They held each other, in an embrace which cried out that it never wanted to end.
They faced the end of the torture, the end of the separation then end of another day, as the sun set for the last time, the two lovers closed their eyes once again and still with clasped hands, they fell forward.
They fell together, to the end of one life, and the beginning of another.
The last whispered words that were heard between them stayed with everyone until their souls departed from that life.
"Forever, my love. Forever..."
That night, after the sun had set. The stars emerged from the inky darkness, and with them, were two especially bright stars that sat side by side, that had never been seen before, but for eternity afterwards, were known as only one thing.
The Lovers.
