A little hedgehog girl ran through Station Square, carrying a grocery bag,
it was around nine o'clock it had begun to rain. She tried to run faster
but her little legs wouldn't let her with out breaking under the pressure,
'Master wanted these groceries, he's such a jerk, I hate him he drops stuff
on purpose so then I have to go and get it if I don't get back in time...'
She glanced at various small cuts along her left arm and shuddered, 'and he
was in a good mood then. Jeesh.' She looked up at the moon, and smiled, "At
least I know I have some light," she stopped in the street, "Crystal, me
and Amy used to look up at the stars like this back then to...Wonder where
Amy went? She probably didn't like me." The little girl sighed, "And we
covered for her to, I hope she got off that planet okay." "HEY KID WATCH
OUT!" The child looked in front of her and saw a truck speeding towards her
she closed her eyes and dropped the bag. She heard the truck speed by, and
the groceries squash, she opened her eyes, and she was in someone's arms.
They put her down, "You alright kid?" The child nodded, "Thanks." She
realized something the groceries weren't in her hands anymore, she began to
cry, "I don't have the groceries anymore and I have to be there in ten
minutes. He's gonna be so angry!" The hedgehog looked at the little
hedgehog girl, "I can get them, tell me what you need." "A dozen eggs,
soap, broccoli, tomatoes, pineapple, apples, and towels." The hedgehog
nodded, "Wait here okay?" The girl nodded, the person sped off in a few
minutes he was back with all of the groceries. The child smiled, "Thanks
but I won't be able to get there on time!" "Where is it?" "West of the
Center of Station Square." The person picked her up, "Hold on!" She clung
to him and the groceries, she saw everything speed by, 'Wow he can run
really fast! I wish I could do that.' The little girl saw the house, "It's
over there!" The person nodded, he sped up to the front porch to see a huge
mansion it was a Victorian. He let her down, "Thank you mister!" The blue
hedgehog grinned, "Name's Sonic, Sonic the hedgehog!" "Hello! My names
Maria." Sonic looked her over, "Wow you are really dirty." It was true
Maria was a hedgehog looking like Amy but younger her fur was light brown,
and her quills fell to her waist, her bright blue eyes looked up at Sonic,
'She was about Cream's height and age, she's wearing a torn brown patched
dress though, why?' He then saw the cuts on her arm, "Hey what happened to
your arm?" Maria looked at it, "I failed my master- Oh no!" She looked up
at the clock it had a count down of five seconds, "Thank you Sonic! See ya
around!" Maria ran up the steps but something fell out of her pocket, Sonic
went up and picked it up, "Wait Maria you-" The door was closed and the
clock struck zero. He shrugged and dangled it in front of his face, 'Looks
like a necklace, it's really old, hey there's something in it.' He tried
opening it, but it was jammed, "Tails can probably get it open." He
muttered to himself and sped off. As he did there was someone in the window
watching him, "So he helped you out?" "Yes Master." Maria answered the man
strode across the room, his long black hair swished behind him, his harsh
blue eyes covered by trendy sunglasses. His pale skin, and he had a scar on
the right side of his face, "Make sure it never happens again, or you're
head will be on a platter you understand girl?" Maria shook she wanted to
ask why but she knew better, "Yes, Master." The figure sat in his chair,
and grumbled a dismissal, he turned his chair around, 'If that impudent
rodent comes near here he might find out, and I do not want that to happen
the slaves here are mine.' He thought as he licked his fingers and squashed
them between a flame, as it went out so did the man's physical form.
Sonic threw the necklace up and down, Tails hadn't been able to get it open, and he sat on the bench, 'Maybe when I see Maria again I'll ask her what's in it.' "Sonniku!" shrieked Amy with sheer happiness, sonic jumped, and he didn't feel like running, "Hi Amy." "What do you got there?" "Something, I helped a little girl out last night and she dropped this." Amy held out her hand, "Lemme see!" She demanded, Sonic handed the locket over, Amy's eyes widened, Sonic took interest in this, Amy flipped the locket over and flicked a hidden switch the locket became open and Amy gasped. It had a picture of her, Maria, and Maria's sister. She dropped the locket, "Sonic where was the little girl? And what was her name?" "Maria." "How old?" "Maybe around Cream's age." Amy turned to Sonic, "I want you to take me to where you helped her." Sonic shrugged, and picked up the locket and closed it. He took Amy where he had helped Maria, sure enough there was a man there with her, searching for something, he turned to Maria, "WHERE IS IT?" He bellowed, "I-I-I don't know." "You insignificant slave, how dare you bring me out here for nothing!" he brought out a whip and whipped her arm, she crumbled to her knees, "Please I don't know where my locket is, it's not yours so it's none of your concern with all due respect Master." "You shut up you stupid girl!" He raised the whip, another hedgehog girl came this time she was around Sonic's age, "Sir there is a phone call for you." "I see. Who is it?" "He said he would rather not state his name." The man grumbled and pushed the girl to the side, and got into the limo. The other hedgehog girl ran over to Maria, "You okay?" Maria shrugged, "I'm alive so therefore I am." The other girl smiled, "Why does he care about the locket so much, it's ours." Maria shrugged, "I think he wants a reason to beat me." "Maria...please we have to tell the police about this! I know you are doing this for me, but this isn't worth my sister getting hurt over." "Aw c'mon Crystal you and I both know you need the medical attention, I'm not gonna lose you to these small scratches." Amy gaped, the man came out again, "Maria, one last chance where is that fregin locket?" Maria looked at him, "I'm sorry sir but it is not in my knowledge." He raised his whip, "Fine, move Crystal." Crystal didn't move, "This is unfair, please don't hurt my little sister, she serves you very well. Please!" "I said move!" The man shouted kicking Crystal, "CRYSTAL!" Maria shouted tears were now coming down, while her back was turned the man lashed out at Maria, the whip hit her back and she fell down. Sonic looked over at Amy he noticed something, she was shaking, 'Is that hatred or fear?' The man kicked Maria, "You stupid child!" "LEAVE HER ALONE!" Amy screeched, she brought out her hammer, and hit him in the stomach, causing him to fly backwards. Amy ran over to Maria, "Be okay, please be okay, Maria please be okay." Maria wasn't waking up, Crystal was recovering, and looked up to see the man unconscious, she looked up towards Maria, "Amy?" Crystal asked, "Is that you?"
Amy looked up, "Crystal!" Amy ran to her and they both hugged, "Amy I thought I lost you forever, Maria kept asking for you. She kept asking where you had gone, and she worried because it was because you didn't like her." Amy shook her head, "I'm so glad your okay." Crystal became silent, "No I'm not." Amy looked at her, "What?" "There was this guy he came to the orphanage...he turned us all into robots Amy except for Maria, I was under his control until I saw my little sister screaming for you and me. Then I turned back into flesh partly...I have still have parts of metal attached to my hair, and I have metal bracelets on my wrists. My hands are flesh, but I was able to save Maria from him and all the others, I was being to be de- robotized...the machine broke...I still hear his voice in my head...it's horrible!" Amy hugged her, "It's okay now, I promise my friend he can fix you right up." Maria groaned, "Maria!" Crystal said, "Amy she needs medical attention now!" Amy looked for Sonic but he was gone. "C'mon I know where it is-" Amy saw a flash of red, 'Knuckles?' Amy thought, "KNUCKLES!" The red blur stopped, "What is it Amy?" "Can you get her to the hospital right away?" "Who?" The red bur asked impatiently he was supposed to be on Angel Isle. "Maria! She was beaten quite a few times!" "Fine." Knuckles huffed he turned to Crystal, "You don't look hurt." "My sister, she's over here." Crystal led him, Knuckles eye's widened, there were so many cuts all of her arms and back, he felt sick, 'Who would do this to a little girl!?' "You stupid pink hedgehog you're going to pay now!" The man held up a gun, and shot it at Amy, "AMY!" Crystal pushed her out of the way and took the bullet instead, Crystal stood there for a moment her eyes widened with shock, then she fell, her eyes were still open. "CRYSTAL!" Amy cried, the little girl Knuckles had seen her eyes opened, she stumbled but got up, she saw her sister lying on the ground, "No..." Maria's eyes became distant, Knuckles looked at the girl, "What is that!" In front of him but behind Maria there was a shimmering figure, it looked like an angel. It went into Maria, who looked up her fur was turning whitish, and her eyes stayed a sapphire blue. Her clothes changed to from rags, came a long flowing blue dress, it fit Maria perfectly, she had a golden necklace around her neckline, and there was a sword almost like a dagger, but not small enough, in one rapid quick moment Maria was in front of him then in back of that man the man screamed then he started to disintegrate. He screamed and glared at Crystal and Maria "You'll never escape Dr. Robotnic, never!" He gave one last scream, and disappears, Crystal looked at the bullet, it popped out, and her wound healed. Knuckles looked at her, "What are you?" Crystal gave him a weary glare, and went over to Maria her blue dress was gone and her white fur had turned to her light brown, her dress had become the tattered and patched up dress she had on before. Knuckles looked at the child, then to Crystal "I demand to know who you are!" Crystal looked tired but she sighed and answered, "I am Crystal, and this is my little sister Maria." Knuckles looked at the oddly, "I see." Amy put her head to Maria's heart to find it was still beating softly, she also heard a jet engine, she looked up, Sonic had gotten Tails, 'Maybe he can cure Crystal! And help Maria!' "TAILS!" she shouted over the plane, "DOWN HERE!" He looked down and landed quickly, and stopped the plane, Knuckles walked over to Crystal he noticed something, 'She looks like Tikal, but...she's a hedgehog...it's impossible.' Crystal had the same color of skin as Tikal and the same hair, some ancient jewelry, she wore the exact thing as Tikal, and only she had no crown or tiara. She also had ears, but as her light purple eyes looked into his he knew she was more than she appeared.
Amy ran over to Sonic, "Why did you run off?" "I thought we would need backup, Maria looked in bad shape and the hospital isn't open, some terrible disease so I went to get Tails. He could help Maria." Tails looked over at the girl in the tattered clothes, "What's your name?" Tails asked Crystal, "Her names Crystal, Tails they both need medical attention right away!" "Crystal looks ok." "I'll-" "No you wont. They wont like me if they knew." Sonic looked at her strangely, "Yea we would." "Trust me on this Sonic, you wouldn't." Crystal looked down, tears forming in her eyes, "You wouldn't I'm wanted by Robotnic, and my sister is to. Please we do not want you all to get involved." Crystal looked at Maria, "Anyway Amy it was nice seeing you," Crystal took Maria by the hand, Maria looked back, "They can help us Crystal!" Crystal gave a small but tired smile at her little sister, "They shouldn't become involved plus we don't want them to get hurt like all the others before." "But they're different! She told me so! She says that they can help us!" Crystal suddenly glared at her sister, "You do not believe everything she says she is dead. Not alive or anything you fool- " Crystal cupped her mouth, Maria looked at her sister, "He's there again isn't he?" Crystal nodded, tears dropping from her eyes, her expression was pained, Knuckles saw her eyes glow red for a moment, then turn back to the kind purple they were changing rapidly now as if fighting for control. "LEAVE ME ALONE I HAVE NOTHING YOU WANT!" Crystal screamed letting go of Maria, who quickly went over to her, Amy stood there in horror, a grim expression of concern and hatred came up in her face Sonic had never seen that expression before, she was fingering her Piko Piko hammer. Maria looked scared, Crystal screamed in pain, her tears falling on the sidewalk her eyes were switching from red to purple, and purple to red. Crystal screamed again and her eyes went wide, she went pale, her eyes turned to Maria, "I love you, okay? Remember that." Then Crystal gave one last scream and her body fell limp to the ground.
