You see what I do with my free time? Study? No, I write pointless things --; I'm not sure if these will really qualify as drabbles...but they will focus on Mwu, Murrue and Neo. There will be at least one for each. I may or may not add other characters as it progresses. Please let me know what you think of the idea.
Neo couldn't figure out where he was. He could make out the outline of the Archangel in the distance, but around it was only a void. Could he be in space? But, no, that was impossible, he wore no space suit or any protection against the harsh conditions.
As he contemplated what was happening, a streak of light appeared from somewhere behind him and shot towards the ship that was his current prison, and in some sense home. The back of his mind noted it as a laser, and filed away the information that he should be worried. But, he couldn't shake the feeling that the Archangel and crewmembers where safe from all harm.
The light suddenly hit an unexpected obstacle. Though it was too bright to make out any definite details he thought that it was a mobile suit.
It was impossible to see anything clearly, but he was suddenly transported to the middle of the scene, where he could hear everything as though he was there. And well indeed he may have been.
He heard clearly his own voice.
"I make the impossible….possible."
He heard the crack and groans of the suit around him as it withstood more pressure then it was ever meant to.
He could even make out the heavy breathing of what seemed to be himself. As well as the choked intake of breath that he knew well. But how could he hear her? Such a small sound should not have been able to cross the gulf between the bridge and where he stood in the oblivion of space.
The light grew too bright to stand and, just for an instant, he averted his eyes. There was no sound, but when he looked back there could be no mistake that the suit had exploded under the extreme pressure.
For a few moments, there was only the silence of space to greet him. Until a cry rent the air. The anguish in it tore through his memories. Pictures and scenes flashed before his eyes, only to disappear just as quickly, leaving him with barely a wisp to clutch to. The only one that remained was a woman he knew as Captain Ramius, collapsed inside the bridge of the Archangel. It had been her terrible scream. She was now sobbing quietly, shaking with the force of her grief.
Suddenly, she looked up at him.
"You weren't there." She accused he stepped backwards, deterred by the pure hate in her eyes. "I needed you, and you weren't there!" Tears still ran down her cheeks to stain her uniform. He couldn't shake the guilt that started to gnaw at his heart "I hate you!" She shrieked "You deserted me! You broke you're promise! You never came back! You made me love you and disappeared!" She froze in mid scream and broke down weeping again.
He was too shocked to move. Too desperate to comfort her. He blindly held out a hand to grasp for her.
Without warning, she threw herself at him. For one blissful moment, he held her. He could feel her weight in arms. Then she looked up at him with a tearstained face and loathing in her eyes.
"You destroyed me." She whispered. He reached to wipe her tears away, to apologize and comfort. He needed her to know how sorry he was. How he felt her grief, though could never quite understand it. How his memories were there, but untouchable. How, for whatever reason, he needed her with him. But, the moment their flesh connected, she fragmented, leaving him with nothing but the echoes of her grief and accusation.
