Hi everyone!!! This is my first story!!! YAY!! This story is based loosely on the actual event of Dan's death. This is my version of the event. Sorry if this story sucks, since it's a tragedy. But I just had to get it down. So, enjoy!

I don't own Naruto. But I can dream, can't I?

Loss

"No, Dan, you can't die!"

It was raining. Night had fallen.

In the center of a forest, two figures were huddled around a body.

A man was covered in blood. His gray eyes were starting to cloud, his white hair turning brown with the mud. A woman was trying to heal him, her hands afire with blue chakra, her blonde hair slicked to her head, her pink lips pursed in concentration, her amber eyes brimming with tears that mixed with the pouring rain.
"I'm sorry, Tsunade. It's no use."
"No, Dan. Don't worry. I'll save you!"

Easier said than done.

She couldn't bear another death, especially after the passing of her dear brother Nawaki.

She was trying her hardest to heal his failing organs. No success, as blood started to flow freely out of his body, without the intention to stop.

She remembered the time she first met him. She had suggested medical assistance to the village's nins. The Third told her there was no knowledge of such things, and they had talked it over; she had given up hope, when the white-haired Jounin stood up for her. He had offered to walk her home that night.

It was love at first sight.

She remembered when he told her of his dream to become Hokage. He wanted to protect the ones he loved and cared about. She gave him a necklace that once belonged to her grandfather, and her kiss on the forehead, which was considered a lucky charm.

That cursed necklace was probably what was killing him. The aquamarine-colored crystal hung around his neck, a sign that he was not destined to become Hokage.
A sign that he would never fulfill his dream.

The skies darkened.
Blood coated the medic's hands.
Dan's breath's came slower and slower.

Things were turning gray.

Tsunade made one more outburst of chakra.
One futile attempt to protect all she had.
One last chance to save him.

She failed. Miserably.

"Tsunade, it's no use", her teammate said.

She was deaf to his words. All she could hear was the deathly silence that told of someone's death, and the pitter-patter of rain. All she could see was the crimson staining her hands, and the sky's tears trying to wash away the terrible image. All she could feel was a realization of her failure coming to her like a crashing wave, her porcelain heart, breaking from another loss, and a shadowy loneliness settle over her.

She started to shiver.

The silence.
The emptiness.
The blood.

"Losing even a single drop of blood could kill you", she thought, the word 'blood' echoing in her head.
Her lover was dead.

All from a loss of blood.

She could nothing now.

Except lift her head to the mourning clouds.

And scream.

She cried to the heavens for her dearly departed fellow ninja, friend, and lover.

She cried for her loss.

Didn't I warn you it would suck?!! Ah, well, what the heck. Please read and review (r&r)!!!!
