This is my first oneshot, and the first in the series I'm going to make(for more details, see my profile). I've wrote this from impulse. This is dedicated to a friend of mine, who likes Kallen for Lelouch. So, read on!

A rose and a letter

She has already changed her prison clothes to a flowing white dress. She would've loved it if she was wearing black, but everybody was rejoicing of his death, and were wearing white. Tired of just standing there, unable to join in their laughter because her heart is grieving, she went out of the place, into the gardens. There, she experienced quietness. But not yet peace.

'First thing tomorrow, I'll go to Nunally. At least with her I can freely lament,' she thought, staring at the black velvet sky, studded with bright yellow stars. Tears ran down her cheeks; tears that are very much forced to be hidden, to never show in front of anybody else. Tears for him.

she's devastated. He killed himself to pay for this peace. 'Every debt must be paid,' she thought bitterly. She knows it is inevitable. But deep inside she wished he'll find another way to bring peace in this chaotic world. Yet he didn't. he stuck to his plan, whatever changes he needed to make just to do it. he already did it.

'He's dead,' she thought, more tears flowing, 'He's dead and I won't see him again. I won't see his smile, his laugh, his tears. No more of it.'

She reminisced those very precious memories with him. though it is too painful, she tried to remember. And with every memory, her heart is broken into more pieces. She knows it will take too long before she could ever forgive him for doing all of these, and for her to get over him. he's way too much loved by her.

'I'll grieve first. I cannot see the light of the dawn if I won't face the darkness first.'

"Kallen…" a soft whisper said. she turned around, and saw the very woman she hated. "What are you doing here, C.C.?"

"You love him, didn't you? Here, he told me to give this to you. He said he forgot to give you one before. just to make up with you, he said that I must give it to you after his death."

C.C. handed her a long package wrapped with a ribbon. Then, without another word aside from farewell, she left. Left alone once more, she slowly opened the gift. Once the paper fell on the sides, she saw a rose, with a small envelope at the side.

She slowly opened the envelope, while tears flow steadily. She took out the scented paper, and read the writing obviously written by Lelouch himself. Once finished, she took the rose, and clutch them to her bosom, crying her heart out. Now she knew he loved her.

But he'll never be able to say it to her ever.

And so she mourned.
