Soft music fills the brightly lit room, a beautiful girl stands resolute, on her own, waiting for the right man to approach her.
She looks down to see her fingers covered in silky white gloves that reach up to her elbows. The white is a grand contrast on top of the black piano she stands next to. Soft music plays in the background, a man's voice singing a song she hadn't heard since her parents had gotten divorced. The Way You Look Tonight, by Tony Bennett. She sighs, why would this song be playing?
As she tries to move a soft fabric brushes against her leg. Upon looking down she sees a shimmering silver gown, something she'd never be caught dead wearing, something Alice would have most definitely picked out for her. Silver ballet flats covered her feet, little bows decorated the top of them. The reflection in the piano reveals that her brown hair has been swept up into a bun, and a tiny amount of blush and lip gloss have been added to enhance her features. The sight of herself makes her blush, an instinct reaction for sure.
Finally, Bella looks up to see where she is. A room filled with similarly dressed people, all talking to each other, surrounding a giant dance floor made of glazed over wood, that shines in the bright lights of the room. Her eyes shift ever so slightly, to catch the glance of a handsomely dressed boy, his long brown hair pulled into a pony tail, his usual disheveled manner forgotten in an effort to keep up a pristine persona.
"Jacob." she says quietly. But he hears her. His eyes meet hers and she feels that familiar spark, the leap in her chest, the warm blush in her cheeks. Her body's reaction to him told her one thing, and this she already new, she was in love with him.
Ever so slowly Jacob walked over to her, holding out his hand to ask her to dance. She blushes and looks down.
"No one is dancing Jacob." she says. He chuckles softly before whispering in her ear.
"But how can I not dance with someone so beautiful?" he asks her. Bella smiles at him and takes her dainty, gloved hand to entwine with his huge, warm one. He leads her onto the dance floor, stopping only when they find dead center. With one hand held tightly onto hers, and the other place lightly on her waist, they begin to turn slowly to the song her parents had danced to long ago.
Slowly, ever so slowly, their faces became closer and closer, until his hot breath rested on her lips. They had stopped dancing, Tony Bennet's voice long gone, and he kissed her under the twinkling lights Their hands unlinked, finding themselves around waists and necks and anchoring in hair. The kiss was passionate, loving, and not at all careful. There was no sign of letting up, no fierce need to take a breath. It was just them, Jacob and Bella, standing in the midst of people they hardly knew, finding each other at last.
But as Bella opened her eyes she found them resting on the opened window, the light shining through to let her know it was morning. The bed was entirely too warm, no Edward there to keep it cool. She sighed as the tears in her eyes made the window become blurry. It was only a dream. She closed her eyes again and pulled the covers over her head, trying to make the dream come back to her, not wanting it to end.
She sighs in frustration as sleep just won't come. When she runs a hand through her hair, her eye is caught by the intricately carved wolf attached to her bracelet. She takes the charm into her other hand and looks at it carefully. Then she looks at the diamond heart on the other side. Two different beings that had one thing in common. They both loved her. But only one could have her.
Putting her arms down she notices a blur coming into her room.
"Good morning, love." Edward says. Time to start another day.
"Good morning Edward."
