The song is "Sound the Bugle" by Bryan Adams.
Sound the bugle now...
Play it just for me...
As the seasons change,
Remember how i used to be...
Lion-o watched as the city around him burned. He saw his home go up in a giant ball of flames, of hatred that had had years -decades, even- to fester.
He and his brother and Cheetara were running, fighting to survive the night. Just moments ago, he and Tygra were laughing, having a riveraly in a competition. Suddenly, the terrified screams of innocent cats drew his attention. He saw a fireball wipe out the majority of his species.
Now i can't go on...
I can't even start...
He wasn't sure what he was feeling, if he was feeling anything at all. It all seemed so...nightmarish, so dramatic...Was it even real? Of course it was. The horrors of reality always outwieghed any nightmare.
I've got nothing left,
Just an empty heart...
His father was killed by a man he had trusted with his life. He was killed right in front of him, protecting his city and his family.
I'm a solider...
Wounded...
So i must give up the fight...
There's nothing more for me,
Lead me away...
He ran past several dead bodies of guards, people he had known. Now they gazed at nothing, death claiming their already rotting bodies.
...Or leave me lying here...
Sound the bugle now.
He tripped over a burning body, unable to move. Shock was claiming him. Tygra and Cheetara doubled back and helped him to his feet. But all he saw was death, destruction. It was all too much to take in. Tygra forced him forward. They ran down deserted streets, often hitting dead ends because buildings had collapsed or the fires had spread.
Tell them i don't care.
There's not a road i know,
that leads to anywhere.
They ran down another alleyway. There was no sound, saving for their ragged pants. There was no light, save for the glowing Hell behind them.
Without a light I...
fear that i will...
stumble in the dark...
Lay right down...
Decide...
Not to go on...
Lion-o couldn't do it. Everything he knew was here. Everyone he had loved was gone. He dropped to his knees, the pain welling in his eyes. He gave a shout of anguish and dropped onto his hands.
Then from on High,
Somewhere in the distance...
There's a voice that calls:
"Remember who you are!"
Tygra grabbed him, forcing him to his feet and he swore the voice, the one Tyrga and Cheetara did not seem to hear, was that of his father's.
"If you loose yourself...
Your courage soon will fallow...
So be strong tonight...
Remember who you are."
Lion-o's face hardened, as did his heart. Anger flared in his chest, flooding his entire being. He gave a nod, signaling he was alright. With that, he lead them into downtown.
Yeah...
You're a solider now...
Fighting in a battle...
They fought every lizard they encountered and destroyed each and ever one of them. They would live to see another day, to seek vengence for every fallen cat, Lion-o would make sure of that.
To be free once more...
Yeah.
That's worth fighting for...!
