I didn't own anything of Edward the Scissorhands. Not even a poster.

xxx

Edward the Scissorhands is lonely on the hill.

One day, a lightning hits his wire-like hair.

Why doesn't he invent his own friend?

Start from the beginning he reads his inventor's notes.

It's not easy since the pages are hundred years old,

especially with scissorhands.

xxx

Edward the lonely boy is making his friend.

It will be a girl, he thinks, just like his first best friend.

He takes many many years to build his friend,

especially with scissorhands.

xxx

Edward the gentle soul comes to the hands.

The inventor didn't have the time to finish its notes

No scissor hands, he thinks, they only hurts people

He wants her to hug without others bleed,

tender as the flowers in his garden.

He uses the plants from flower to root

to make a friend for the scissorhands.

xxx

Edward the inventor has a friend.

He reads her books and poems just like his inventor.

He named her Alice, for

She smiles the first time reading Through the Looking Glass.

Her smile is the sweetest in the world,

especially for the scissorhands.

xxx

Alice the flowerhands sits on the ground

Watching scissorhands creating his art.

Her hands grow and grow into the earth without her notice.

When she stands, she finds she can't,

for her hands are one foot deep in the soil.

The scissorhands helps her out.

xxx

Alice the gentle soul counts the mushrooms

Which grow on her hands during the cloudy days

Edward can cut them, she thinks, he has scissorhands.

She finds a spider in her hand.

xxx

Alice the unhappy girl stares at the sky

She is waiting for the sun to shine.

Why aren't you happy, asks Edward.

Why didn't you make me with scissorhands? she asks.

So you can hug people without them bleed, Edward says sadly.

Alice finds Edward sad. She doesn't like it all.

She leans closer and hugs her friend.

Then they hug,

When the flowerhands bloomed.
