She couldn't take it any longer.

They had been silent for hours, studying mirthlessly while she tried to force herself not to say what was on her mind. But now, she just couldn't hold it in. She needed to get it off of her chest before she exploded.

"Okay" she said softly, staring up at him and he frowned at her, putting his quill and parchment aside on the desk that he was sitting on.

"Okay?"

She nodded.

"Okay, you got me" she replied, standing up from her spot on the floor and stepping back from him. He pushed himself off of the desk, his eyes never leaving her sparkling emerald ones.

"I'm not quite sure I understand" he said and lifted his hand to ruffle his already messy hair, his nose scrunching in confusion and she just grinned up at him.

"I like you!" she admitted, her arms spreading outwards like wings as she continued to back away from him, her face reddening slightly at the declaration of her feelings.

"You like me?"

There was no trace of a smile, his hazel eyes searched hers curiously as though he was waiting for her to poke her tongue out at him and claim it was all a joke, he was simply dreaming.

She didn't.

"I like you, Potter" she said quietly, and it seemed to take him ages to respond although it was really merely seconds, but when he did it wasn't with what she was expecting.

"Took you long enough" he told her, a hint of annoyance in his tone.

She shrugged.

"Well, there you go. Better late than never, right?"

He didn't answer and she made to sweep past him, her throat burning as she willed herself not to cry but he caught her hand and pulled her back around to face him.

"Do you really mean it? You're not just messing with my head or-"

"For Merlin's sake, I don't even know why I bothered telling you in the first place if you were just going to doubt me-"

He cut her off by leaning down and pressing his lips against hers, taking her by surprise and pulling her closer to him. He ran his fingers carefully through her long wavy red hair, and she seemed to melt in his arms before she deepened the kiss, gripping onto the front of his sweater.

Feeling quite breathless, she pulled away and stared up into his golden hazel eyes and smiled shyly.

"You got me" she murmured and he smirked playfully at her.

"Go out with me, Evans?"

She smiled.

"Okay."

Like it, hate it? Let me know with a review please!

Thanks for taking the time to read it, just a short one shot inspired by the song 'You Got Me' by Colbie Caillat. Just something I could imagine going down between them during their seventh year.

My love to all,
