Sammy ducked behind the curtain, tried to control his breathing, even though he was too young to know what "breathing" actually meant.

He knew was he HAD to be quiet… or else he'd be found.

And he knew what would happen next.

"I'm going to find you, Sammy" the voice caressed his ears, loaded with confidence. "It's just a matter of time."

Sammy clapped his hands over this mouth, his toes digging into the carpet…

Just as the curtain was pulled back, and he was lifted up in the air.

"Gotcha!" John Winchester crowed in triumph as his fingers gently wriggled against his youngest's sides.

Sammy twisted and screamed with laughter, but made no real effort to get away. When he felt his Daddy laugh as John held him and tickled him breathless, it made the child so very happy.

Like they were a family that didn't have to move around so much, chasing whatever it was that made his Daddy's eyes get so dark and mad.

Like they were a "normal" family. Whatever that meant.

Giggling, he reached out and kissed his Daddy's cheek. "Love you, Daddy."

John stopped tickling, held the three-year old close. "Love you, too, Sammy."
