Horo took a sip from his glass of water, frowned, glared at it a moment, then touched the edge of the glass with one finger. Instantly a thin film of frost formed as the water began to freeze. He waited until it was exactly the right temperature, the lifted it slowly to his lips. He could already taste the clean, cool, clear-
The galss was snatched out of his hand, and Horo watched in dismay as his carefully prepared drink was tipped over. Yoh upturned the glass over his head, sighing with happiness as it ran through his hair and over his face. He wordlessly filled the glass again from the jug on the table and held it out to Horo, who iced it with a fingertip and a frosty glare. Yoh tipped it over his head again, and yelped. Horo had iced this glass a lot colder. Yoh seemed to be too tired to gather up the strength to glare- he only blinked a few times and collapsed on the sofa next to Horo in a way that suggested all his bones had been surgically removed.
'I told Anna she couldn't marry me if I was dead, but she wouldn't listen..' Yoh's head lifted only slightly from his body's attempt to become one with the sofa. He lifted the water jug again, saw it was empty, and gazed pleadingly at Horo. Horo sighed, picked it up and went to the sink.
After Yoh had drunk approximately the amount of water an African village uses a week, and Horo had refilled the water jug three more times, Yoh didn't look like the was about to keel over and die. He had picked up one of the magazines Horo had been reading and flipped through it enviously.
'I wish I had time to read stuff, or listen to music... but no, that shaman battle's only a week away or I've missed a training session or something...' Yoh's hand tightened on the magazine, crumpling the glossy cover. 'I get ten minute's free time and it's like a perfect moment, even though it's something I did all day before...' Yoh said wistfully. He looked at Horo. 'Know what I mean?'
-It was dark, but he could still see the pale figure silhouetted against the window...-
'Kind of,' Horo replied, not daring to say anything else.
'When something absolutely goes your way, and it's better than you imagined it...' Yoh continued, oblivious.
-He felt Ren's muscles shift under him, and his lips on cold skin...-
'And it just feels so right, so perfect...'
-The look in Ren's eyes...-
'Ever had something like that?' Yoh was staring right at him. He couldn't not answer. He opened his mouth-
-It was late, and I was tired and I think he was too but we did it anyway and it was dark and I woke up with the pattern of the carpet pressed into my cheek but it was worth it because he was still there-
'The first time I got a 360 on my snowboard,' Horo said.
