Echoed Memories

Echoed Memories

My first SG-1 fic. I hope it turned out okay now. I've been having the urge to write these two for awhile now and this little drabble just hit me today when I was supposed to be writing an assignment. Something nice and short with Farscape undertones. I don't own either SG-1 or Farcape. Enjoy.

He ignored the familiar squeeze in his gut the first day he set eyes on her. He ignored the recognition he felt as she stepped through the wormhole, leather jacket swinging, so foreign yet recognisable. He ignored the feeling he got as his eyes swung over her leather curves, like he should know every inch of them.

But, as time passed, gradually he found himself not ignoring the sense of familiarity he got whenever she enter the room. He found himself distancing himself from Daniel just so he didn't have to endure the wrongness he felt as Vala hung off Daniel's every word and limb. He started dreading falling asleep on base, hating the cold communal showers when the dreams hit him. Dreams of another time and place when he was the curious one; touching everything and getting into trouble; and she was the soldier; rigid and cold. He preferred those dreams at home where he could hold on to their memory as his hand pumped away in the warm shower.

He knew she was not as immune to the echoed memories as she liked to pretend. Often she'd lean into his touch as it lingered a fraction too long. Sometimes she would step away from Daniel whenever Cam entered a room and then step back again, as if she didn't know why she had moved in the first place. At times when she touched him it was as natural as breathing; not meaning too but some part of her needing to. She never touched Daniel like that. When she touched Daniel it was all a contrived part of her seduction yet when she touched him it was like she never meant to at all.

They never spoke of it. They never spoke of how when Cam got sick with the Prior flu it was him Vala was most worried about. They never spoke of how he had had a private mini-breakdown when she went missing after the ruined the Ori Supergate plans. They never spoke of the relief they saw in each other's eyes when they reunited. They never spoke of any of it.

It was better that way.
