The wish to Protect

He was sitting on the edge of cliff and breathing deeply fresh air. He turned his head and looked at his companions that were lying below. Young Demon King - 10 years old girl named Rchi, and Hero number 45, Alba.

He liked both of them, even though they were so childish sometimes. Well, he acted this way too.

He sighed sadly. He knew that this happiness won't last forever. The road of Hero is hard, with many dangers and enemies on it. And you need to be ready to sacrifice somebody or something for the sake of win. Like he did.

The memories of past returned to him suddenly. He shook his head fast. He shouldn't remember the past. He should live for today, future.

Ross? – He heard sleepy voice. He turned his head and saw Alba has woke up and was

Coming to Ross. When Hero was near, the sitting boy saw that Alba is looking worried at him.

What is it? – He asked. – I'm not around you and you're scared Yuusha-san*?

I'm not scared! – shouted Alba in quiet voice not to wake Rchi, that was sleeping below. – Just… you're being weird lately and now you're making odd face.

This sentence surprised him. His eyes widened a little, but after a second, returned to normal state.

- I never expected to hear it from you, King of Weirdness, - he said with a sadistic grin. – Return to sleep. Tomorrow we have long way to go.

- No, until you will be lying near me.

- Hmmm, you're very bold Yuusha-san. Are you masochist or what?

- Wrong! If you don't sleep, you won't get enough sleep, soldier. You will be tired.

- Don't worry about me or you'll be more stupid than you are already.

- I'm not stupid! Geez! – Alba chuckled. – Do as you wish. – He said and returned to sleep.

Ross laughed under his nose. Teasing Alba was too fun to stop, after all.

Well, Alba greatly resembled him his best friend from the past, Crea. Both were always smiling, optimistic and stupid in many ways.

But now, Crea was possessed by First Demon King, Rchimedes, which was Ross father, so he was no longer here,

Ross was alone, even though he travelled along with Alba and Rchi.

Soldier stood up and he lied down near to Alba side.

He didn't want this innocent boy to share his fate, to lose his smile, which was so bright and warm like sun.

He will protect him at any cost.
