Why is it so cold and dark?

I feel like I'm floating… But I don't understand why. Slowly a light starts to break through the darkness in front of me. I squint so my eyes adjust and soon realize the light is a lamp over my head. I give my eyes a few minutes to adjust before blinking and looking around.

The walls are white with a grayish blue tint from the lights. There is a wall to my left that is covered in square doors. To my right is a boy, I gasp as I realize that he is dead based on the dried blood and bullet hole in forehead. It is then that I realize that I'm supposed to be dead and I am here to be cut open. I sit up quickly and vision goes black around the edges but I ignore it as I put my legs over the edge of the table I'm on. I try not to look at the tools, next to my table bed, that would have been used to cut into me. The thought causes a shudder to run down my spine. My feet hit the floor and I have to grab my table bed for support.

I'm lucky that they haven't quiet gotten to my autopsy as I'm still fully dressed in my blood stained clothes. I look around the large room before shakily but quickly make my way to the door on the other side of the dead boy. Once I'm out of the room I look for an exit. I spot an emergency exit and decide this is better to take out of the building since I don't think who ever is in the building will be okay with an assumed dead girl walking through the halls. I make my way to the exit, using the wall for support as my legs still aren't quiet used to my weight yet.

The sign right above the handle says "Emergency Exity Only… Alarm Will Sound." I ignore the sign and push the door open and as the sign warned the alarm blares behind me. I make my way down the stairs, almost tripping several times. Once on the ground floor I push open the door to the outside, I lean on the door as I take in sight of the city I once called home in front of me. People walking in all one color as if the war never happened. I frown before pushing off the door and directing my steps toward the Abnegation Sector. Why there, who knows, I just feel like it's where I need to go.

Tobias:

I sit out in front of Cale's old house… her old house. Caleb works for the hospital that Tris's body is currently at. Her autopsy was today… although I don't know why they need to do one. I always thought those were to help determine the cause of death. Clearly Tris was killed by gun shots. Anyway I wanted to know how the whole thing went so Caleb and I agreed to meet here. He should be here in a few minutes so I let my mind wander.

After Tris had died and every that happened at the Bureau happened, we returned to the city. It was only about a week before we took down Evelyn and put the factions back into place. The only thing that is different is there is no one governing faction. Instead each faction has three leaders that meet with the other four factions to determine the laws of the city. So far it seems to be working out alright. Granted it has only been a week.

I look up and see Caleb running toward me. I stand up and hold my hands out to stop him. I hold his shoulders and wait for him to catch his breath. "What is going on?"

"It's Tris…" Caleb says still not quiet able to catch his breath. "About five minutes before her autopsy the alarms in the building went off. When we got back they started get ready to go to her but when they got in she was gone. Cameras show her going out an emergency exit… on her own… she's alive." He rushes out.

I tense and take my hands off his shoulders. So many questions are running through my head. How is Tris alive? Where is she? Is she okay? Does she remember anything? Is she still my Tris? "We need to call Christina, she can check the city cameras with Zeke. We have to find her. She died and woke up, she has to be weak and confused. We have to find her before someone else does."

Caleb nods and we run inside to call Christina, who currently works with Zeke in the Control Room back at Dauntless. House pass while Christina searched for any signs of Tris. She called back about an hour ago saying that she spotted Tris heading toward Abnegation and then walking in between buildings so she was hidden but it looked like she was heading toward her parents street or the building where Abnegation hold their meetings.

Caleb took the role of waiting to see if Tris appeared on the street while I went to the meeting house. I slowly walk the path to the front door, my heart racing. When I reach the door I slowly push it open. I step inside and the door closes quietly behind me. My eyes skim the room before landing on what I was looking for. She's sitting on the raised platform in the center of the room, her hands in her lap. I can see her body shaking slightly as if she is crying.

"Tris…?" I say loud enough for her to hear and slowly make my way toward her. Her head snaps up and I can see the tear tacks on her cheeks. She waits until I'm in front of her before saying anything. And when she does speak all she says is:

"I'm alive."
