Sam heard the slam of the nearby door and reached across his bed only to feel cold sheets. Jolting awake, he sat up to see Cas shoving things into a suitcase in the other room. Quietly he got up and walked to the doorway, the sheet still half-wrapped around him.

"Hey." He yawned. "What's the deal?"

"I know when to back off, Sam." Cas didn't even look up.

"Whoa, whoa. What are you even talking about?" Sam asked, padding closer to the other man.

"I'm talking about the fact you don't even seem concerned about college. You go off on your weird trips with your brother, never telling anyone where you're going or if you plan on coming back. And just as fast you're back here, crashing for a night or two. Those trips have become your life. I'm just the love-sick college geek who sends you bits of research when you get in a bind, and I'm bowing out while I still have some dignity about all of this." Cas burst, glancing at Sam and then back down at his suitcase.

"Cas...hey, Castiel. Look at me. Please, look at me." Sam finished the distance and reached over to put a hand under Cas's chin, guiding his face upwards. "You are not just some love-sick college geek, okay? You're so much more than that. And these trips, they're just...I'm really helping people Cas. Real people with real problems who are in need of more than just a law degree and an overly expensive briefcase."

Before Cas could argue Sam wrapped his arms around him, utilizing the sheet to enclose the both of them.

"Don't go away mad. Don't go at all. You know I'd be here more if it what I was doing was any less important." Sam looked at him, his eyes begging Cas to understand. "I love you, Cas."

Cas jerked his head up in surprise,

"You what?"

"What?"

"That's the first time you've ever said that." Cas explained.

"Oh." Sam looked surprised, then happy. "I love you, Castiel Novak."

Cas blushed, not expecting him to use his whole name.

"I love you too, Sam Winchester."

"So you'll stay?" Sam grinned.

"Yeah...who am I kidding, I don't have any more dignity." Cas sighed, wrapping his arms around Sam's torso.

Sam chuckled and kissed the top of his head, sighing in relief. Now all he had to do was secretly destroy that suitcase and he'd be fully relaxed.
