Teddy Lupin was thirteen years old. He was in his third year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and he lived with his grandmother, Andromeda. He knew his parents died in the war and he knew their names and a couple of facts about them, but he didn't KNOW them. During Christmas break, he went home to his grandmother with the idea in his head to ask her about his parents.
One evening while they were in the living room, Teddy courageously asked in a soft voice,"Grandma? Who were my parents?"
Andromeda looked up from her book and took her reading glasses off slowly. "You know who they were silly. They were Nymphadora Tonks and Remus Lupin."
"I know their names, but I don't know WHO they were or what they were like."
Andromeda didn't say anything for awhile. She took a bookmark and marked her page then carefully set the book on the side table. She took a long sip of her ice tea and then set that on the side table next to her book. She looked at Teddy, who had her full attention, and began to speak. "Your mother, Nymphadora, was a beautiful young woman. She was a metamorphous, just like you. I remember her telling me that while she was in school, people would make fun of her. You see Teddy; she was out going and so very clumsy. She didn't care what people thought of her, and didn't morph her appearance into something she knew she wasn't. It broke my heart though to know that people would lock her out of the Hufflepuff tower by changing the password on her. She had to sit outside for hours until someone was kind enough to tell her the new password." At this point, she had tears in her eyes. "I remember her coming to me, in her fifth year, with a proud look in her eyes and telling me she was going to be an auror when she graduated. She told everyone that was what she was going to be when she grew up. Teddy, when your mother set her heart on something, she was going to achieve it no matter what. That is what caught your fathers attention; her heart. Dora was so in love with your father. But Remus wouldn't let himself get close to her. You remember that he was a werewolf, right? Well your father didn't want to hurt your mother or take the risk of you becoming a werewolf like himself. But Dora didn't care. She wanted to be with him no matter the price. Teddy, the war was what began their love; and the war is what ended them. But I want you to remember that they loved you very much and they are still watching over you. Now, it's time for bed. Come give your grandmother a hug."
