Andi shook as she stared at the piece of paper in her hand, and her eyes blurred with tears. She could feel Ted's hand on her shoulder, and Andi could only last a minute before she threw the letter on the ground and turned onto his shoulder.
"Cry," he whispered into her hair as she clutched to him, her fingers curling into his shoulders hard enough to bruise. "It's okay. It's okay. Just cry."
Andi wanted her family with her during her wedding, in her child's life.
The letter on the ground told her that was a foolish want.
That didn't mean that it didn't hurt any less.
