Disclaimer: D-I-S-C-L-A-I-M-E-R. I would think that means I'm about to disclaim something.
AN: I don't even know why I bothered with this. :(
If you ever have to wonder if somebody is "the one", it means that they're not.
He knew that was true. For weeks now, and over the whole summer, he had wondered if she was that special one. Was it love, or just some puppy crush? But now, the answer lay right here. And all for something stupid too. A "boy fast" that Derrick's ex was forcing her friends to take up. All because Derrick and Massie hadn't worked out.
He had hoped somewhere, deep inside that she would be smarter than that. She would know better. Especially after she told him she did like him like that. And he was deciding that he felt the same way. But now this stupid "boy fast" idea had ruined it all. So, he guessed she wasn't what he thought she was after all. She wasn't the independant, strong, kind of girl he liked to see. She was weak. A pushover. Nothing but a follower. But, he didn't want to think that. He hoped it wasn't true, and that Derrick had just made it all up. He didn't want to think of her that way.
She wondered why he stopped talking to her after that. They could've been friends, even though it would hurt. That wasn't against the fast.
She also wondered why he would look at her that way, like he couldn't believe it.
But most of all, she wondered how he did it. She knew that he wasn't over her. He probably knew she wasn't over him. But she wondered how he could pretend that she was nothing, like the other boys did. How he could give the Yankees hat to that girl in algebra class.
She wished he would understand.
He wanted to know badly why she would hurt him so. Why she could give the hat back, and sashay back to her friends like he didn't matter.
Two could play at that game.
She prayed he didn't have that morality. That if she had to break up with him, and pretend that she wasn't interested, that he wouldn't do anything. Maybe that he'd be more understanding about it. About why they couldn't be. Something told her that he knew.
He was determined to show her that. If she was going to act that way, and treat him like some fling. Loved one day then ignored the next, then he would have the same attitude. She would be nothing, just a phase. He would prove it to her too. The girl proudly wearing his cap now would do more damage then angry words could.
He wanted her to realize the mistake.
He wanted her to stop pretending.
But mostly, he wanted her back.
