A Meal
They had denied him his share of food when he was a child. His loving parents hadn't allowed him to enjoy eating the sweet meats of other animals.
And that was what brought it about: his barbarism.
They told him they gave him enough to be healthy. He knew better. His hunger had to be sated with regular feedings on the other Animals. But they wouldn't hear of it. And they blamed him when he lashed out in frustration.
Addicus remembers this while facing execution by the Bird Nation. And when he is rescued, his feast on the Birds isn't just a form of revenge for his neglected childhood, but A MEAL.
