AN: This is a poem I wrote for school. I thought it fit the show and figured I should do something with it besides letting it set on my computer. Please R&R. And this is my first post so forgive me if I did something wrong.
A Time of Wrath
Death and destruction fall as one,
A time of wrath has now begun,
Murder conquers one and all,
Who's to blame, who should fall,
It isn't fair nor is it right,
To extinguish such a vibrant light,
How can you not think of the victim,
As he explains just why he picked them,
Is it hard to sleep at night,
Knowing where the victim's lie,
Rage, lust, love, despair,
Isn't it a hard cross to bear,
Tell me do you not think of it often,
And with time does the blow ever soften,
As victims' faces run through your head,
Do you wonder what each said,
As they put up a fight and he extinguished all their light,
Its hard to conceive or even believe,
That one could do such cruel things,
Why are they allowed to commit these crimes,
Didn't somebody see the signs,
Did no one realize what he could do,
And do you think it could have been you,
As you work do you hear their voices,
Guiding you to make the right choices,
How do you do it day in and day out,
Aren't there times you want to shout,
To let them know just how it feels,
As images flash like movie reels,
With each new case and each new call,
Through winter, summer, spring, and fall,
As you lie in bed, their voices in your head,
Do you wish it had been you instead,
Does it hurt to not care,
As you study and stare,
Don't you think of their death,
With your every breath,
As you look at each face,
And know no one else can take their place,
What is it that you realize,
When you look at those unseeing eyes,
While relatives and reporters criticize you,
For a job you didn't do,
Can't they see you're not to blame,
Its he who extinguished that brilliant flame,
With each new suspect and each new pardon,
Tell me does your resolve ever harden,
Through criticism and strife,
You will work your entire life,
To put each killer in his place,
And bring closure for each and every case,
And as this world continues to spin,
Tell me will it ever end.
