WARNING: Character Death

This is a tribute to all of the soldiers that have died in battle for us. And though the 4th of July isn't until tomorrow, and it represents America's birth more than the fallen soldiers of our country, that isn't going to stop me from posting this. With that thought in mind *salutes* To all of the soldiers that have died fighting for our country, thank you, and may you rest in peace.

Christina sighed as she walked through the rows upon rows of gravestones. Each one had flowers or a flag sitting upon it, waving in the slight breeze.

As she came to the end of one row, she noticed a figure standing over a certain grave. She blinked, and sidled up next to the figure.

"Masamune." Christina said, "What are you doing here?"

"I'm on leave for a few months." The black haired man replied, his brown eyes on the grave, "And I thought I'd come by and pay my respects to an old friend."

"I see." Christina murmured, "Are you on leave for any certain reason?"

"Yeah. I busted my arm up in the field, during a raid." Masamune said, quietly, "They sent me home until I've healed up."

"How long ago was the raid?" Christina asked.

Masamune was silent for a minute. He finally answered, "The same one that your brother didn't make it out alive on."

Christina was silent, her shoulders drooping.

"He was a good guy, Crissie." Masamune said, "I know you and him didn't always get along, but he talked about you a lot. Said you were a good person. One that wasn't afraid to put her own needs on the line for another person's."

"That comes with being in a military family." Christina sighed. She reached into her jacket pocket- her brother's old one, that she wore nearly every day nowadays- and pulled a silver chain with a locket out. She leaned down, and laid it just at the base of the cross that marked her brother's grave. Swallowing thickly, she opened it, revealing two pictures- one of her and Chris, and the other of Chris and his wife, Nefertiti.

Christina stood back up, reaching up to grip her brother's dog tags in her hand, sighing to calm her nerves.

"Hope you're happy where you are, bro." Christina murmured, "Because without you here, it just doesn't feel the same."

Christina stood straighter, and brought her fingers up to her forehead, saluting, "Rest in peace, Chris Cadelle."

We're thankful for those thankful for the things we've done,
We can rest in peace, 'cause we are the chosen ones,
We made it to arlington, yea dust to dust,
Don't cry for us, we made it to Arlington

The song at the end was 'Arlington' by Trace Adkins. And the dog tags I didn't make up- Chris does wear them in the anime.
