I yelled, as Hariel; my closest friend and most devoted follower jumped right in front of the tail coming at me, which would have completely destroyed at my heart, thus taking the blow from the fox demon Hagoromo Gitsune. As Hariel slid off the tail I caught her and lay her down of the roof before she dropped to the floor thus further injuring herself. I looked upon her, and saw that she was drowning in blood as there was now a large hole through her heart; she looked in my golden eyes I could see understanding and acceptance shining clearly in her jewelled emerald eyes, she was waiting to die!
Consumed by despair as my vision was stained red, I attacked Hagoromo Gitsune with my fear induced sword and with the help of the onmyoji Hidemoto Keikain. The fox demon was severely injured and thus furtherincapacitated. Hagoromo Gitsune's body was destroyed.
I then ignored everything around me as I turned the body of Hariel which was faintly breathing, I crouch beside her and gazed at her body. Her chest was moving hurriedly as if she was unable to catch her breath, her emerald green kimono which it was coated with miniature gold outlines of snakes was stained in red, and around her waist is a plain golden obi which was beginning to turn brown. Around Hariel's neck is a silver chain holding a golden ring containing a black stone on top, the stone itself is crack in the middle over a strange triangular symbol, the ring itself has a faint glow to it and was constantly warm, however as her glow was gradually fading as her life was draining away. Her usual clear skin, which was normally peach coloured and flushed due to her cheerful personality – is now a harsh white, close to chalk. Her beautiful red lips which usually held a radiant smiled, which warmed the hearts of my men is now taking on a blue twinge and was opened slightly as she struggled to breath. She has a small button nose and her eyes are slightly open showing her emerald eyes to the world, there is still as small spark in her eyes however it is rapidly fading.
As my eyes locked with hers. Hariel spoke breathlessly stumbling slightly "S-Supreme C-Commander, no N-Nurarihyon, I was there by your side watching you g-grow and b-become the man you are t-today, I-I w-was by your s-side a-and I'm s-so proud of w-who you…h-have b-become,…b-but you…d-don't n-need…m-me…anymore..." and as I was about to protest she spoke again "H-Hush… i-it's t-true… y-you're a-about t-to s-s-tart a-a… family o-of… y-your o…own." Hariel took a deep breath and gathered her remaining life to carry on "B-B-Become…Happy…a-and…d-d-don't…g-give…i-i-in…t-to…li-fe's…h-hardships…d-do-n't…f-for-get…" as she faded off, Hariel reached to her neck and with trembling hands she broke the chain holding her ring , she placed it clumsily into his hand gripping it tightly.
She had smiled as the light in her eyes faded.
Once Youhime and Gyuki came on the roof, and I was healed sufficiently enough we returned to the rest of the demons and walked slowly back to the HQ in a sombre silence, all silently mourning the loss of Hariel, whose body lay in my arms…
