Disclaimer: I don't own CSI!
It begins with the alcohol and drugs and a beautiful woman who seems to be what she isn't.
Her name is Juliet, she's rightly named because she's going to die for her lover.
(But Greg doesn't know, no he doesn't know)
She has big blue eyes and her hair is the same color as the clean sand from the perfect beaches in the movies and when she laughs it's everything that he hears in the wind, the rain and the sun.
The needle marks aren't seen until they're in bed together, the tiny red dots in the crook of her elbow.
" It's not me," She whispers and he so wants to believe her.
In two weeks she is dead, her hair stained with blood and her blue eyes full of tears. She wouldn't tell them Greg's address so they killed her.
Greg leaves New York the next week for Boston.

He's drunk again and the woman has long strawberry-blonde hair that falls almost to her waist.
He knows what she is because he's in gang territory and in a gang's club.
She's got grey eyes and he wonders why he likes her so much when she doesn't seem to be very special.
He forgets how sickly skinny she is when she kisses him and all he knows of her name is that she was born Elizabeth and goes by Lizzie.
The needle marks are there and he pretends that he doesn't see them.
" I'm going to leave this place," She whispers after a year and he thinks that she might be telling the truth when she shudders and vomits into the toilet.
Detox hurts like hell.
(But dying isn't how it normally ends)
They get a call and the man is laughing as he pulls the trigger and pushes a bullet into Lizzie or Elizabeth or whoever she really is.
Greg leaves for San Francisco and downs seven bottles of beer on his first night there.

Her name is Kris and she has ginger hair and big mint green eyes that seem to stay on him for ages.
He has sex with her the night they meet and it means nothing except that he needs it and she needs it because she's not like the others.
She works on the streets the next week and is raped and murdered.
Gil and Sara investigate and call it a crime of passion.
Someone loved her.
Someone killed her.
When they find the killer he says that he did it because she was sleeping with someone else.
" I'm innocent," Greg whispers to a picture of her that was taken at the crime scene and she seems to look right at him.
" Are you really?" Kris whispers inside his head
.

The alley is dark and he saves her life. She has dyed hair, dark circles and more scars than he can count, and they're on her arms and legs alone.
(he'll add another one soon)
She says her name's Scarlet and he wonders if he's becoming a CSI already because the lie smells coppery, like blood.
He knows that she's lying and he shakes his head when she asks him up to her room because she has green eyes like Kris and he thinks that her natural color, blonde like her eyebrows, looks like Juliet.
She's shot the next day but she lives with limited feeling in her left leg.
He'll smile and say that every woman he meets ends up dead and Nick and Warrick will laugh.
He won't laugh when he sees that Kris's killer is out on parole.
It starts with alcohol, the middle is drugs and the end is death.
