First fanfiction that I have ever written! Please be gentle!

"The smallest coffins are the heaviest." The quote pops into Levy's head. She doesn't know who it's by or if it was even a quote, but she knew it was true. She saw how carrying the small coffin seemed to weigh down Gajeel. She saw how Jet and Droy tried and failed to hold back their tears. Even Natsu was downhearted, looking solemn as he put an arm around Lucy. Lucy, oh Lucy. Lucy who was the godmother. Lucy who practically was an aunt to little Gale. Lucy who, other than Levy and Gajeel, was Gale's favorite person. How she must be hurting. Levy saw the pain. Her shattered heart broke even more.

Turning her eyes to the sky, she silently asked why. Why was her baby born early? Why was he born weak? Why couldn't he have been strong like his father? Why did those beautiful brown eyes capture the heart of everyone who saw them? Why did he have to grow up so stubborn like Levy and Gajeel? Why did Gale have to stay out in the rain even though the whole guild told him to come inside? Why didn't he listen? Why did he have to catch a cold? Why did it have to turn into pneumonia? Why did he have to die?!

She felt Gajeel's strong presence behind her. She knew that he expected her to start sobbing like Lucy was. But Levy couldn't cry. She had cried and cried and cried already. She was numb. She vaguely heard Master saying some words about how Gale was a wonderful child. How he could make the whole guild light up with just a smile. How everyone was going to miss him. People slowly started to leave after that. She felt hands on her shoulders, heard muttered words to convey sorrow and sympathy, and felt the pitying gazes of her guild mates. Soon it was just Levy and Gajeel at the little grave. The little grave with the small coffin. Levy wanted to say something. She felt it in her but she could give it no words. Her! A script mage! Not being able to say what the swirling, overwhelming emotions she felt where. She was going to drown in these emotions. She was going to drown, and be with her little one. Her Gale. She heard Gajeel ask if she was okay. In the back of her mind she acknowledged that he even left off the Shorty and actually called her Levy. She couldn't think of an answer. One thing just kept bouncing around in her head over and over and over again making it impossible to think. "The smallest coffins are the heaviest." She managed to get out before she collapsed and finally let the tears out.
