"Lily! There's an owl down here for you!" Anna Evans voice flowed up the stairs into Lily room. It was quite late on the night of December 23rd Lily was home on Christmas break from her 7th year at Hogwarts, where she was made head girl, also where she had just begun dating James Potter, head boy.
Lily had just gotten out of the shower so she quickly threw on a pair of short shorts, a tank-top, and her robe. Her door flew open and she ran down the stairs. And there on the kitchen windowsill sat James' owl, Emerald, which he named after seeing Lily's 'emerald' eyes. She took the letter from Emerald's leg and brought it over to the table to read it.
Dear Lily,
How's your Christmas break so far? Mine's alright seeing as I'm spending it ALONE with padfoot and moony. Padfoot's quite mad seeing as we'll be having cereal and cheese sandwiches for Christmas dinner.
I miss you. I hope you miss me too. I can't wait to be back at Hogwarts. I'll send Emerald with you Christmas present tomorrow. But don't open it until Christmas morning!

Lily smiled as she read her boyfriend of one month's letter. She didn't know how but she loved James Potter more than anything.
"Awww, looks like Lily has a boyfriend. He's probably a freak just like her!" Lily's older sister Petunia snickered.
"Yes Petti, I do have a boyfriend and he's not a fat hog like yours." Lily told her sister.
"Take that back! I bet your "boyfriend" is only using you as a toy. Yet why would anyone want to do that?" Her sister said in fake questioning.
"James is a great man. I may not have liked him at first but he's been asking me out since 5th year, Petti, and every time I said no to him. He'd just keep asking and when I asked him why he fancied me he said "You're perfect Lily, in everyway, shape, and form. You're smart, beautiful, helpful, thoughtful, caring, brave, and strong mentally and physically, and you can see the best in people, even when they can't see the best in them." Petti how many times did Vernon ask you out on a date before you said yes? Once? That's what I thought, because you knew that if you said no, you wouldn't find anyone else."
"LILY!! How dare you talk to your sister like that!" her mum said as she came storming into the room.
"Mum! She was bad mouthing my boyfriend and she hasn't even met him!"
"I don't care Lily! You know better—boyfriend? You have a boyfriend?"
"Yes mum I do. James Potter."
"Isn't that the boy who hexed you friend Severus?"
"Yes mum. And Severus is NOT my friend! He called me a…a…a mudblood!
"Lily remember what we told you when you were a child 'sticks and stones may break my bone but word shall never hurt me.'" Her mother told her.
"Yes I remember mother but that word is a horrible word to describe a muggle born. Like me." Lily retorted.
"Oh but Lily he was so sweet I wouldn't mind if you dated him. But this other boy, I'm not so sure about him. That's why your father and I have reached the decision that you will not be going back to your school after Christmas break."
"MUM!! That's not fair! Hogwarts is the only place I feel at home and…and…and LOVED!!" With that Lily muttered a spell and apparated off.
