A/N: Oh, joy. I'm back.
"Here ya go, Chickie Pie!
Starfire accepted the plate the kindly older woman offered her and chose to ignore the term of endearment that she didn't quite understand. She had never heard that one before…
"Why, thank you, madam!" said the young heroine with a bright smile. The woman smiled back and scurried off to help some other customers in the small diner. Starfire watched her for a moment longer, still puzzling over the term the waitress had used before turning her attention back to her meal. She licked her lips in anticipation and looked on hungrily with shining eyes at the delicacy set before her. "Yum…"
The alien princess reached forward and grasped her spoon (just because manners were quite different on her home planet, didn't mean she would always be politely and understandably excused for not abiding by those of her new home), very eager to begin eating her favorite dessert. Chocolate fudge sundae. With a side of French's Spicy Mustard and Vlasic Crunchy Pickles (her brands of choice). Simply delicious, nay?
Starfire scooped up some of the delectable concoction of ice cream and chocolate, and, after placing a nice, juicy pickle slice and a thick slathering of mustard on top, excitedly took a bite of the sweet, sour, and spicy piece of heaven on Earth.
Oh, X'hal. What bliss had she been denied of for so very long? Starfire sighed in pleasure as the vanilla ice cream melted slowly in her mouth. She pretended not to notice the odd stares directed at her and the noises of disgust directed at her… unusual appetite, to put it lightly.
After many minutes of Starfire's enjoyment, she paid the bill and left the small diner. The fresh spring air quickly snapped her out of her sugar and spice induced haze. Although the chill barely affected her at all, it was enough to wake her up a bit. Starfire stretched and shook off any and all tiredness, and decided to take a walk.
She strolled along the streets and smiled brightly at the reemerging life. As the winter had slowly melted away, flecks of life had begun to spark up all over the place. This thoroughly fascinated the girl, seeing as her home planet only had one yearlong season. Summer. Not that she didn't enjoy the climate, but, in all honesty, it got incredibly monotonous, and now, on this new planet with such varying weather, it was no wonder why she was so enthralled with it all.
Starfire smiled sadly and shook her head slightly as she saw all the citizens of Jump City wandering the streets and cursing the slight cold, saying how they couldn't wait until summer when they would do nothing more than curse the heat. If only they knew the extent of the gift that had been bestowed upon them, then they might just be a bit more grateful. This world was so amazing with so much great potential; she believed it such a shame that its people were so careless.
Starfire stopped walking and giggled when she saw some small children in a park chasing some brightly colored butterflies. She began her walk again after a minute or two of admiring the little ones' boundless energy and entertained the idea that there was always the promise of hope for the future.
THE END
I think I'm totally incapable of writing anything more than 1,000 words. This isn't even 600. And it doesn't make sense. Yuck. Confusion.
ANYway, leave a review if ya feel like trying to explain to me how good writing is SUPPOSED to work. I honestly have no clue.
