Disclaimer: Don't own In A Heartbeat. This story is partially based on one of the best movies of all time, Homeroom, so crops go out to Paul F. Ryan who wrote, directed and edited it.
Author's Notes: I wrote this months ago, but never got around to submitting it and I was in the mood for something that had more substance than an OC story I'm working on. Enjoy!
Lesson In Evil
Prologue
The shots rang out from a second floor classroom of Kingsport High school and sent the entire student body and staff into a tailspin. Teachers hurriedly locked their doors hoping to keep the evil, from their classrooms, their rooms, their students, their "kids". Those who had over slept, didn't feel like attending class or just hadn't been able to get into motion that October morning were left to fend for themselves and immediately rushed to the nearest exit, leaving binders, backpacks, brown bag lunches, purses and sweaters in their wake.
Within minutes sirens and other sounds of the police brought hope to those awaiting rescue inside.
Just a half hour after students had entered the big double doors of the school they were being herded out them in single file lines with their hands up, mere feet away from officers of the peace who had rifles and handguns pointed at them, should any of them turn out to be the evil.
