The hardest part of good-bye is leaving

"Violet wake up honey." My mother's voice crept into my dreams of an invention of a robot knight. It had just learned how to speak. "Violet time to get up. Your cereal and soy milk is on the table!" My father called.

"I'm up!" I called sitting up and rubbing the sleep put of my eyes. I got dressed in my favorite black dress with purple lace tie up in the front. Then I went down stairs.

"Morning sis." Klaus said as I sat down next to him. "Gera Bias." Sunny said which most likely meant, "Morning also. Then mom and dad both sat down. "So kids, how would you like to go to briny beach today?" Mom asked. "Can we take the car?" I asked. "Well no, you're going to take the trolley silly." Dad said. "You and mom aren't going?" Klaus asked looking up from his waffles. "Uh no." Mom said picking Sunny up. "Grog?" Sunny asked, which probably meant, "But why mom?"

"Well, I'll do the dishes'." Dad said getting up and taking all of the plates. "You kids go get ready and I'll go get the money for the trolley car." Mom said setting Sunny down. I got up and picked Sunny up and went up stairs and got her ready. Once we were all ready we went back down stairs and said good-bye.

"Okay Violet, Here's 4 pounds 50 for the trolley, that should be enough for the ride."
Mom said as she pushed us out the door. "What time do you want us back by?" Klaus asked. They acted like they hadn't heard him. "Well, have fun kids. We'll miss you." Dad said pulling all three of us into a bear hug. "Dad we are just going to the beach, we'll be gone for a few hours." I said. "That's all it takes." My mom said looking out one of the big windows, and then we left and got on the trolley and went to the beach.

Once we got there Klaus (never without a book) opened his book on Marine Mammals and started reading, Sunny was trying to find something to bite. After about an hour we were bored. At first I skipped some rocks then I put my hand in my pocket and pulled out a purple ribbon. For anyone who didn't know me, they would think that I was merely getting my long black hair out of my eyes. But to those who do know me would know that whenever I put my hair up I was thinking up inventions. Right now I was trying to invent something to retrieve the rocks that I had just skipped.

Suddenly Sunny looked up. Brongo!' This meant; "Look at that strange man coming out of the fog." Then Mr. Poe walked out of the fog.

"Hello Mr. Poe." Klaus called. "Come here children," He huffed as he waddled over, "I'm afraid I have some very unfortunate news. It seems your parents have perished in a fire that burnt down your home." We just stood there letting it sink in. Klaus was the first to speak. "So are parents are dead?" "Would you like to see your house?" Poe asked. "Yes." We got in his car and drove to out house.

As we drove up I finally understood: Our lives were changed forever. In fact if only I'd known just how badly our lives would have been, I'd never had left our house without our parents.
