Imelda is seen sitting down on a bench with her hands on her head while looking hurt; she has failed yet again to convince Miguel to go back home with her blessing. At least their last conversation brings more light to her for him to see. All this time, she never hated music; she was a musician like her husband. She remembered the times he would play, and she would sing. It's quite nostalgic for them as if nothing else mattered.
However, whey they gave birth to Coco, everything changed for her. In fact, raising her had became her important priority than just music. Therefore, rules had to be made. When he never came back home from his first music tour, she believed that music could cause a person to become so ambitious that they would abandon their loved ones to chase their dreams.
As a result, she banned music for her family.
Unfortunately for her, this ban has led Miguel to the Land of the Dead in the first place. After all, he's just like her in terms of being stubborn.
Just then, she heard a whimper, and it came from Dante. She realized that Miguel must have left him after he tried to stop him from going far away from his family.
"So, he ditched you as well?" she asked the dog that was thought to be an alebrije. How else could he see Miguel when he became a spirit? How else could he know his way on the Land of the Dead? As he looked at her with sadness on his face, she knows the answer. "I thought so," she muttered under her breath while petting his head.
"What now, Mama Imelda?" Tia Rosita asked as she and the rest of the Rivera family approached them both.
"All we can do now is wait."
Author's Note: What do you think? This is the scene that took place after Miguel runs off from Imelda, who's trying to get him home after he had a falling out with Hector and Dante.
