"You know, when I first saw you, reading a book in that special little café, I didn't think you were the person I was going to marry. I didn't even think you were going to be someone so important in my life that I couldn't live without. I just… saw you. I saw you, and I thought you had a great smile."

And somehow, Elena can't help it, bursting into laughter.

Because for her, listening to the music that crept in, 'Hear You Me' by Jimmy Eat World was the last straw for her not to lose her composure.

"Oh, cheese." Merrily, she sighs into the sofa, feet tucked under her legs. "Where would I be without you?"

"Funny." Reno grins, one arm wrapped around her, comfortably placed. "I thought that sappiness and overdone romance would have been your exact cup of tea."

"Then you don't know me at all," Elena giggles into his ear and murmurs, a little too breathy for the odd thing called friendship between them. "'Cause I don't like tea."

"Expressions, 'Laney." Reno responds lazily, pushing her back a little and tucking a lock of hair behind her ear while he's at it. "You'd do well to remember them."

"I did." She furrows her eyebrows, pouting. "It's called cheese."

"And here I was, assuming that you were being literal."

"That too, Reno." Tries and succeeds in a grin, but fails to convince him. "I can't live without cheddar."

"Right." He clicks his tongue in response, and merely arches an eyebrow, green eyes glittering. "Sure you can't."

"Don't push me, Red." She folds her arms across her chest and gives him a playful shove. At his incredulous look, she merely replies. "If you can have a nickname, then so can I. Might not be the best nickname ever to be made… but then 'Rookie' isn't either."

"Shut up."

"Make me, lover." Elena laughs, and yawns; not breaking the mood between them. "Tired now, try not to wake me."

"Shall I carry my lovely to the bed?" Teasing her, Reno asks, raising his eyebrow.

"Please." Still smiling, she giggles into his embrace, temporarily dozing as she becomes comfortable where she is. Right besides him. "Tis much appreciated."

She sleeps like an angel, and when she wakes up, she's surprised at how much she's treated him like a teddy bear, legs entwined with his.

Well, she thinks, sleepiness taking over again, there's no point in moving now that she's already so comfortable. Reno won't mind.

After all, they're friends.

And their job is to act as a married couple, in order so they can get close to the target.

It doesn't hurt that he has nice scent, either.
