He didn't hate her; which was an improvement from his other feelings towards most people.
In fact, he didn't even dislike her.
She was different, misunderstood, and a tad bit annoying as all get out, but she was rather nice.
He would never be able to disappoint her or cause her pain.
He would never be a mistake in her eyes.
She would just be Luna, silly old Looney Lovegood and he would be Draco, cruel, vengeful, Draco Malfoy.
