This is wrong, he is young, she is young and they both definitely aren't in love. There's nothing innocent about her, but her age and everything is innocent about him except for his eyes. He has these green, green; green eyes that just shine, shine; shine in the light. Not in an innocent way though, his eyes shine with madness and chaos and fire and she just wants to fall into it. It's not her fault.
She just can't help it.
Just like she can't help but wander around Dark City, staying in those cheap, dirty motels that smell of cigarette smoke and faded magazines. And he has his bad quirks too, leaning against the wall his eyes taking in the sights, sounds, and smells of Dark City. And he enjoys it too, the harsh words being spoken the cold look in people's eyes as he walks past them, because he is a heartless bastard who doesn't bother helping people who don't need saving.
Why should he help people, who brought the angst down on themselves?
He's seen too much darkness in people to know the difference between good and bad, because everyone has the same look in their eyes. The desire to win, power hungry fools, he doesn't want to help people like that, so he just watches them fall so that they will regret.
She's different though, she won't fall into the darkness. She's stronger, different or at least that's what he tells himself. He knows—she knows—that she's just like the rest of the crowd, full of darkness and raw lust for power and happiness. But she yearns for other things too, things like love—things that don't exist here in Dark City.
And he wants to grant her wishes, because maybe she'll become the old her. The one that he knew and loved, but he also loves seeing her like this because it gives him a chance to save her. They aren't perfect heroes— hell, they aren't even the heroes. They aren't like those other heroes like the legendary Keyblade Master—they don't have the hero-complex that leads them on a heroic journey to save the world. They don't care about saving the world—they care about saving each other.
And she feels guilty sometimes though; he tries so hard when it comes to saving her, while she just remains oblivious to it, to his feelings. She tries to act innocent, but she can't become pure for him, because she's been around sinners so long, she's practically turned into one and so has he. And all she wants is to see his eyes be more childish. She's been with him so long, and she hasn't seen him look with the eyes of a child.
Except when he sleeps.
When he sleeps, she can finally see color in her colorblind eyes, she could see vibrant shades of blues, reds; yellows all spinning around the color wheel. And the world didn't seem so lonely anymore. Because even though they had each other they were very much alone.
And then he opens his eyes and it's all shattered, because he's back to his sinful state and they need someone to be pure out of the two of them. Because she's a girl whose only innocence is her age and he's a boy who has seen too much, to have innocent eyes so they just sit there and watch the world get ripped apart, while they sit and dream and rewind to a time where all they can hear is laughter.
