Six years he had been in her life. Six years of terror and joy, fear and elation. Before him, well she hadn't felt much of anything real. She thought she had, tried to make herself believe it many times, but it really just wasn't so. Her real life had begun six years ago.

He was standing by the cradle D'Argo had made for their son. He still insisted on making those funny little noises at the child. They seemed to work too, which was the scary thing, how human would this kid be anyways. Not that that was a bad thing. Just that his father had a bit of a brooding tendency. He'd certainly earned it, there was no doubt of that, its just sometimes she missed the old John.

Zhaan had called him innocent before she died, and even after all that had happened, all he had been forced to go through, the title still fit him. He could still get that boyish look of wonder on his face, it was rarer now a days, but it still visited now and then. Mostly when he looked down at Dalin.

John had gained so much life back at the birth of their son. It was amazing really. She tried not to be, but sometimes she was almost envious that she hadn't been able to bring that much back for him on her own. But then if it weren't for her Dalin wouldn't be either, that was a prize she was willing to accept.

They had had other triumphs in their journeys. Other high points that had seemed to blot out the dark sides momentarily. The victorious return from the command carrier with Scorpius no more then a shadow of a memory in their lives. Talons return to health and happiness. The birth of Dalin. All of these made everything else seem not so bad to live with.

John called it 'waiting for the wheel'. She supposed they had done that. And it had turned out ok. It wasn't perfect of course, but things rarely are. It was their lives, though, and they were finally comfortable in it.

"Chi, he's doing it again, come look, I swear." He had that boyish glint again.

She smiled and got up to make her way to him. She had no idea why spit bubbles were so exciting; it must be a human thing.
