"Hmph."

For most kids, getting a day or two off was pretty great. Especially when the weather was so nice and sunny. However, in Naota's case, it wasn't so much fun - To start with, they only got a day off because a teacher - Apparently about as dumb as Naota's own - Had started a chemical fire on accident and they had to make sure there were no poisonous fumes.

Then, there was the fact that he'd have to deal with his dad and Haruko constantly acting immature. I wish I just knew what their problem is, he thought to himself...Stopping, he looked around to find that he was right before the bridge that - ...

"...Here we go."

Naota didn't even bother to try and hurry and cross the bridge - Indeed, he suddenly heard that soft, slightly dreamy voice. "Hey, Takkun...Come down here." Sighing, Naota carefully picked his way down around the bridge, to the grassy patch of land below it.

For once, Mamimi wasn't squatting in the dark, smoking a cigarette or clinging to that little black kitten...Naota found her laying in the grass beside the river, arms and legs slightly spread. Her left hand's fingertips were lightly submerged in the water, causing languid ripples to circle them. Mamimi was simply lying there, eyes closed...

As the auburn-haired girl basked in the sunlight, Naota frowned...And his frown deepened at Mamimi's next words: "Could you please lay down, too?" Her eyes didn't open once - The highschooler was totally at peace.

Scowling, Naota said, "No way. You're just gonna do something weird." He remained standing there, watching her...For a while, Mamimi remained silent. Naota was starting to feel a bit irritated, but Mamimi finally spoke again.

"I promise I won't...Please lay down, Takkun?" She opened her eyes part of the way, gazing up at Naota with that serene, passive look she seemed to always have. Naota gave an awkward shrug...Mumbling, he walked down to Mamimi's feet and sat down, before laying down himself.

Taking the same kind of sprawl Mamimi had, Naota remained silent...Actually..."This is pretty nice," he said under his breath. Only half-aware that he was doing so, Naota even dipped the fingertips of his hand closest to the river into the cool, relaxed water. Truly, the sensation of the small eddies and currents dancing around was very enjoyable.

Mamimi and Naota just lay there for a bit - Naota learning how nice it was to just relax and soak in the sunshine. Babbling quietly, the river simply flowed along beside them.

"...Hey, Mamimi."

"Yeah, Takkun?"

"...Thanks for getting me to lay down here."

"I'm just glad to share it with you, Takkun."

"You're welcome, then...I guess..."

"Yeah..."
