A/N Um, I've been kind of feeling poetic lately and this is what came out of it. I don't know if it's good or not, but I hope that you like it.

Disclaimer: I don't own PJO or HOO.

Can you see it in their eyes?

The pain and sacrifice,

That comes with living the life that they do.

Loss of loved ones, loss of friends,

Everywhere they look people are meeting their ends,

All because of them.

~/~/~

A guilty conscience, a saddened soul,

A broken heart black as coal,

Because of all the betrayal that they know.

~/~/~

Could they have saved them? The broken and the lost,

If they had saved them, would there have been a greater cost?

Oh, they will never know.

~/~/~

Their lives are determined by fate,

And all they can do is wait,

For the inevitable to come.

~/~/~

Running all their lives,

All they know is swords and knives,

And the monsters that are chasing them down.

~/~/~

What do they do when their parents don't answer their prayers,

When they are caught up in their own useless affairs?

They're on their own, gotta save themselves.

~/~/~

They're hoping for Elysium, a happy ending to this life.

They are sick of the wars, the pain, and the strife.

They just want ending to the tears.

~/~/~

They're just hoping it's a nightmare,

Just a midnight scare,

But they know that good endings are rare.

~/~/~

And as the day draws to a close,

Everybody knows,

They they can only lean on each other.

~/~/~

They all gather together nightly.

(Holding on to hope.)

And the fire is burning brightly.

(But not because of what they've done.)

And they just struggle to cope.

~/~/~

And they gather by the fire,

To the soft songs of the lyre,

Because they know the truth.

~/~/~

Hopes survives best at the hearth.
