Something in my gut turns, this doesn't feel right. It might be the fact that I'm about to give a selfish brat his own way but there's got to be something. Her name rings in my ear like a bell. Tris.

"We have to go back" I say, panic raising within me

"Not until I get the serum"

"Do what you want. I'm leaving." I turn my back trying to find the keys to the van in my coat pocket, but all I find is scrap thread that came off my coat

"Without the keys?" Peter dangles them in the air, right in front of my face. A smug smile tucked between his two ears, I reach to grab them but he kicks me in the shin, knocking me to the ground "We'll make a deal eh? You give me the serum. I give you the keys."

I sigh "Fine. But after we get back" Peter nods and we get back into the van. I climb into the drivers seat and slam my food on the gas, as far down as I can make it. Peter gasps for breath as we swerve through the streets at 210 miles per hour "Speed was one of your fears wasn't it?" Peter didn't speak, he just kept clenching the arm rest, his fingers red from anxiety.

After that we drive in pretty much silence, not saying a word to one another until we reach the institute. Nobody is at the door to meet us and there is an alarm ringing in my ears. Its happening. I run down the hallways until I find Caleb, sat on the floor in his suit shivering in tears, with a gun in his hands.

"Why aren't you in there!" I ask "Where's Tris" it comes out desperate, but thats because it is.

"I'm sorry Tobias! I couldn't stop her I-" I run into the door, I can resist serums, I should be okay. Plus Tris is worth dying for. Everything is foggy, but I can hear murmuring in the distance

"Tris?" I shout. Thats when I here the gun shot, and the unmistakable scream of Tris Prior.
