She slowly steps into the lake, being careful to disturb the water as little as possible, shivering as the cold water touches her legs over her knee high boots. Luckily her bathing suit was isolated, so her stomach and chest wouldn't be affect too much. She walks until the water is waist high and holds the pokeball under the surface, pressing the button. A red light distorted by the ripples on the water appears, turning into a dark mass. Vaporeon poke his head out of the water and looks at the girl as she fixed her goggles over her eyes.
"Ready?", she asks the pokemon as she runs her fingers over the fin atop it's head. Vaporeon coos softly, moving back into the water, the girl holding onto the ridges down it's back. She takes a deep breath before letting Vaporeon pull her under, it's strong slit tail fin propelling them down into the lake. She checks the Poketech on her right wrist, the small map tracking their descent, as well as the pokemon who live in the lake. A Gyarados appeared on the edge of the map for an istant, too far away to cause a problem for now.
Vaporeon leads her to the bottom, a collection of palm sized stone litter the lakebed. She gently reaches down and pulls one from the mud, keeping a hand on Vaporeon. The stone gives off a faint, blue glow. She turns in her fingers before placing it in the bag tied to her hip. She gathers a few more stones before her chest starts to hurt. She quickly ties the bag shut and taps Vaporeon, the sign to return to the surface. It kicks off with all four legs, tail swishing back and forth hard. A blip on the girl's Poketech sounds just before the roar of a Gyarados. Looking back, she lets go of her breath, bubbles clouding her view as the giant sea serpant like pokemon's mouth starts to glow.
"Gah! Where is it?!" Amber exclames, flipping her long, brown hair over her shoulder before unfolding a large paper map. After staring blankly at if for a moment, she sighs and stuffs it back in her bag without refolding it. She then reaches into her jacket, pulling out a small pokeball, pressing the button to make it grow and tosses in front of her. It bounces once then releases a red engery. The ball bounces back to Amber as the energy turns into dog like pokemon with orange fur with black strips on it's back, white tuffs on it's head and around the neck. She smiles at her Growlithe as she kneels in front of him, putting a hand on his head.
"Well Growlie, we're lost again. I never should have left the path, but that Heracross was too good to pass up. Wish it didn't run though."
She looks around, "Everything looks the same, it's a wonder how anyone can actually live out here."
Her big brown eyes drift to Growlithe, blinking in thought. "I don't suppose you could sniff them out, could you?" she askes her pokemon. Growlithe just wags his bushy white tail in response. Suddenly his ears perk up, turning his head to the right. She stands and turns in the direction Growlithe is looking.
"What is it?" She askes as a bright, yellowish beam if light shoots up from the forest. "That looked like a...Hyper Beam..., either someone's having a battle or there's a powerful pokemon really mad at someone..." She turns to Growlithe. "We better go check it out." Amber takes off in the direction of the beam, Growlithe running at her side.
