Chapter One- The Effects of Trauma- Lock memories and Emotions.
" Wah... I..' Everything on Harry's body, hurt, more then mere words could express. He was in true agony, every definition of the word. He had no idea pain could exist to such a degree. " What happened." He could barely barely speak, barely think. The words sloughed off like dead skin, like jello on a hot car. " Help... somebody... help?" No sound, nothing... ' Damn... I'm going to die."
He could feel blood dripping from his throat... the smell of wet dog in the air, mixed with the familiar ashy scent of a bonefire.
' Am I out side?'of
Managing, though barely, to open his eyes, Harry realized that he was indeed outside. It was just shy of dawn, with a light layer of dew across the world around him. He couldn't smell grass though...
' A Forest, I'm in a forest.' Yes, he could see trees, though barely through his swollen eyes. ' Did an animal attack me? No, that's not right... it wouldn't have put me near a fireplace, and a human wouldn't have just left me unless they hurt me but... I am pretty sure I was bitten.'
Laying there, dying, Harry focused with all of his blood loss weakened mind and slowly the memories trickled in.
Brief, worthless, tiny flashes...
Growling in an ally, sharpness in his leg, his head smashing against an ally wall. Dozens of bites exploding all over his body.
Then it hit him, like a thousand Whomping Willows.
" A Werewolf... yesterday was the full moon I am werewolf..." The Horror was too much, and when combined with the bloodloss, it was enough for him to pass out.
Only to wake up to the stench of peroxide and bleach, something he was very, very familar with. A soft women's voice echoed near his head and so he opened eyes to see the blurry outline of what he assumed was a nurse.
Apparently he made a sound, because she whirled around with a gape. " Your awake..." A Smile crossed her face. " Good, I was hoping to see you on my shift."
Slowly, Harry nodded and managed to croak out. " Water... please."
She flashed forward, pouring him water from a pitcher on the table by his bed. " Here. I'm going to get the doctor, okay?"
" Wait. please... I was attacked... I don't... I don't have insurance. " He knew he wasn't covered under the Dursley's medical insurance. It was one of the many reasons he never had his eyes taken care of as a kid.
A Beautiful smile crossed the nurses face, or at least Harry assumed it was beautiful... he couldn't really see her since he didn't have his glasses. " Don't worry. Sometimes the hospital does probono work." She giggled at his confused look. " It means charity work, free. It gives them attention. When you were found in the woods without ID, the Director decided you would be that case..."
Mildly relieved, Harry collasped into his admitedly comfortable hosptial bed and ran over his thoughts. ' They can't help me, I'm a werewolf now...' He could feel it, a dull ache in his bones. Like he had a fever, only no heat. He felt like Professor Lupin looked... dead tired. ' I can't tell them, Hermione maybe but not Ron...' Fear trickled into his heart... he remembered how everyone talked about Professor Lupin after he was outed by Snape.. How people who loved him the whole year turned on him. Monster, halfbreed, freak...that last one had made him shiver, it was something he heard far too often from the Dursley's. He had put it away, not wanting to think about it. Now he couldn't stop...
" Woahwoahwoah Kid, calm down. Deep breathes!" Harry snapped back to reality, realizing a loud beeping was ringing in his eyes. He turned and saw a machine hooked up to him. Someone was really high. " It's okay to be afraid, Kid, but you need to remain calm. You might pass out again." He turned to the voice, seeing an older man with dark skin looking at him. " My Name is Dr. Ash, I have been taking care of you for the last few days. Do you now what happened to you?"
Slowly, Harry managed to squeak out. " I... I was attacked by a dog or wolf. I can't really remember what else happened..."
" That's normal, You hit your head incredibly hard. I sent the nurse out of the Room so we can chat." The man leaned forward, pulling a pad from the front of Harry's bead. " Patient Unknown... Lacerations to the throat, stomach, arms and calves due to animal bites. Head wound due to blunt force trauma. Six ribs broken, dislocated shoulder and wrist... Signs of malnutrition." Harry froze as the man looked up. " The only detail we do not have is your name... "
Gulping, Harry ran through names but apparently he had been drugged with pain meds since he couldn't focus on it and his name slid out. " Harry Potter." The words were slurred and he was feeling more and more tired. " Where my glasses?' Whoozy, he collasped into his bed.
The Doctor rushed over. " Sorry, we gave you some pain medication a few minutes ago, It must be kicking in. I'm surprised your awake now... It's okay. We'll talk tomorrow, Okay?"
Nodding, Harry turned to his side and felt sleep wash over him.
Then he woke up in pitch black. Flinching, he felt wide awake and still very, very sore. Unlike before his mind was clear. " I have to get out. The Dursley's are going to kill me... SIIRIUS!" Harry knew the man was likely losing his mind, wondering why Harry hadn't responded. " I can't tell him, he'd just try to help me and get himself caught.. I...Wolfsbane... that potion, Maybe I can buy it? I don't have to tell anybody... First thing when I get out, get Wolfsbane... and then read about Werewolves. I can't tell Hermione yet so that might help."
As he finally started to calm down, Harry layed back down. He was pretty good at thinking on his feet...
Then the panic hit him, sweat and terror as the memories were no longer blocked by medication... It was only the memory of fear and it was enough, leaving him breatheless...
" How did it even attack me? Dumbledore said I was safe as long as I stayed at the Dursley's... " Anger sparked in him and the shaking changed tone. He didn't speak for the rest of the night, but doubt wiggled itself into his mind. It wasn't the first time it had stayed there... and now it would never leave. " I, I could do nothing. I just laid there while it bit me, hurt me... I couldn't fight back." Panic pushed anger asiide and Harry couldn't breathe...
He only had a moment of hearing the machine beeping before he passed out, black dots dancing across his vision...
Chapter End, tell me what you think in the reviews.
Yes, it was abrupt but that was the point. Trauma mixed with drugs messes with your head. He literally cannot focus for long, the trauama is too much right now...He is overly rational which is another side when you are first traumatized... we will get more of the memories as times moves on...
