Tea Break

Summary: A Master and a Sensei have a talk over tea.

"Honey?" Ji said as he offered a bottle of honey.
"Just a bit, thank you," Theo said as he took the bottle from Ji. He opened the top and pour a little bit into his tea. He set down the bottle, picked up the spoon, and stirred the honey into the hot tea.
For the first few minutes, there was silence. There were the soft sounds of glass against glass until Ji spoke.
"How are Reese and Victor?"
"They are well. I am starting to see puberty coming around the corner. Casey and I have bets on how tall Victor is going to be. I'm thinking that he will be taller than Master Swoop. Casey said that they will be the same height. Victor's animal spirit is a giraffe. I'm going to need a step stool to see him. Reese is starting to rebel a little against her training which I expected. Master Swoop expected that I will enjoy this phrase of their training," He said with a snort.
Ji laughed.
"Lauren and Jayden were very good students growing up...most of the time," Ji said.
"I could probably the same about Victor and Reese. It's strange to see them grow up."
"It is. Sometimes, I get flashes when they were younger. It was only yesterday…."
"I'm not that old yet but I do know what you are talking about," He said.
He had clear memories of Victor and Reese following him around like little lost puppies.
That still amused Lily to no end.
"How are the others?"
Ji sighed softly.
"There is sense of discord. They are working as well as they can together but…"
"They miss Jayden."
He knew that. His house has become an open door of rangers. They have voice their worries and a host of other emotions…angry…fear…. He can image Ji was having the same issues as well. He could tell that it becoming a great burden on him. He could see the black circles under his eyes. He had the idea of asking RJ to come and talking to Ji. Mentor to Mentor but RJ brought up a good point when he brought the idea up. RJ thought that he already developed a bond with him. He will be much better in this situation.
He almost wanted to snore. Retired from Power Ranger….ha…someone lied to him.
"Yes."
"How is Jayden doing?"
Ji sighed again as he set down his tea.
"Lost. I feel that he might do something that he might regret or worse get himself hurt. As much I stand by his decision, I worry."
"You wouldn't be a good teacher if you didn't worry," He added.
"It doesn't get any easier," Ji said.
"It doesn't."
"Of course, the others are angry with me. They hoped that I would talk Jayden into coming back. They are close even if my reasons are important."
"They are team. Do you expect anything less?"
"I suppose so. I have a feeling. Something is going to give. As their mentor, I wished that I could do more. I know I can not."
"Don't we all?" He said for a moment before he continued. A thought just popped into his head. He could listen but he couldn't really give advice in this situation. Some days, he missed being a power ranger. Sometimes, it was a simpler time.
"We must play our roles until the end."
He nodded his head.
"Truly…"
He watched as Ji take a sip of his tea. He had the words at the tip of his tongue but it will bring no comfort to the man.
The words echo through his head.
…Even if it kills you.
