A/N: A little more fluff because the fandom will never have too much Jily fluff.
Lily was bored. She, due to her academic prowess and proactive tendencies, had finished all of her homework. Though normally Lily would be delighted to be rid of the tiresome weight of unanswered Transfiguration questions, she had nothing to do. Marlene and Dorcas were scribbling madly on a scrap of parchment, which either signified another late essay, or some unsavory scheme. Neither of those activities sounded particularly appealing, and James was working on rather complex looking Arithmancy problems.
This was an issue for Lily Evans because James was her favorite entertainment on boring Tuesday nights. Not necessarily Tuesday nights only because, really, Lily quite flexible with her schedule where James was concerned. It didn't even have to be snogging for Agrippa's sake!
Lily was perfectly fine with Exploding Snap tournaments, chess matches, or even sharing the horrendous burden of homework. She preferred at least a cuddle by the fire, but she would be wonderful just playfully bantering with her boyfriend.
She sighed petulantly, and glanced at the towering grandfather clock. It was eight-thirty. She couldn't even go to bed! It was far too early for any self-respecting seventh-year, and she would be wide awake at five in the morning besides. She huffed again and stared pointedly at James.
He didn't bat an eyelash. He stayed absorbed in his stupid problems, and furrowed his brow slightly. James must have been awfully confused because he cocked his head minutely to the left, and bit his lower lip.
As any good girlfriend knew, Lily knew when James became confused. And at eight-thirty two, he looked positively bamboozled. Having dropped Arithmancy sixth-year when she realized it wasn't necessary for the Auror program, she decided she would only be an obstacle in James's quest for the answer.
She crossed her arms peevishly and as she waited patiently for James Potter to finish his homework, she grumpily wondered why he would ever continue on with such a subject. (Lily quite liked Arithmancy, but was unwilling to use a Time Turner, and reluctantly dropped it for practicality's sake.)
Suddenly James's eyes lit up, and he scrawled madly for a few seconds.
"YES! I'M BRILLIANT! MOONY I'VE FINISHED QUESTION EIGHT!" James practically shrieked with delight, and manically waved a bemused and slightly concerned Remus over to his red couch. They talked for a few minutes, and soon Remus's eyes were lit up. They danced in a frenzied flurry of arms and legs until James fell over. Remus, the mother hen, laughed hysterically.
James walked over to Lily's worn armchair.
"Budge up, I'm injured," he demanded.
"Since I'm such a good girlfriend, I'll gently and lovingly tell you to grow a pair," said Lily as she smiled up at the boy in front of her. Sirius and Remus collapsed in giggles, and convulsed on the floor.
James scowled, and then smirked evilly.
"James, what are you do–AHHHHHHHH!" Lily squealed as James threw her over his shoulder, and marched around the common room.
"Put me down this instant, Potter!" Lily ordered, and James flopped her down on his couch, and began tickling her mercilessly.
"James," a gasp, "stop," giggling, "tickling," a yelp, "me!"
"Fine, but you're no fun, Evans," James pouted adorably.
Lily smiled at her boyfriend sweetly, and James's pout morphed into an adoring grin. They arranged themselves comfortably; Lily nestled into James's side, and James sitting upright with his arm around his girlfriend.
Lily was happy. She had no homework, and a cute boy to snuggle with. Marlene and Dorcas cooed, while Sirius and Remus retched. Peter smiled, and all was well.
I see bored!James all the time, and thought it was time for some bored!Lily. Please be forgiving, I finished this at midnight. Tell me what you thought!
