(If you haven't seen the anime… well, none of this will make sense anyway, but I might as well tell you that the anime ended with a reincarnation. So this is the continuation of the last thing we saw. Also - the names are similar, but purposefully different. This IS a reincarnation.
Yuzi's hand pressed against the girl before he knew what he was doing, spinning her towards him to look into her eyes. "Um… Hi… I have no idea what I just did…" he hesitated, glancing between the sidewalk and those golden eyes before fidgeting a little. "You look sort of like someone I… thought I knew… maybe…" She didn't. He'd never met her before. He was sure of it; but he hadn't felt that way when he'd tapped her shoulder.
"I like Mapo Doufu."
They blinked in sync, his eyes finally lingering on her face this time. "What?"
"I… felt like saying that I like Map Doufu. I don't know. When I saw you, I just wanted to say that. "I don't know. It's peculiar."
He nodded, pretending it made sense for the moment while shooting her a hesitant smile. "Would you… like to go get some? I mean, we could go take some to my little sis. She's at home. Waiting for me to get dinner, I mean. I could bring her back something and we can eat at my house, or-" he swallowed. "I'm Otari Yuzi."
"Tachi Kanade. Let's go." He nodded, his hand slipping in with hers before he knew what he was doing. His heart was beating faster, pulsing at top speed as they rounded the corner, slamming into something that yelped. Two "Somethings" tumbled into the ground, black hair and blue concealing faces as they looked upwards. Startled glares turned to giggles as they saw him, rushing upwards.
"I'm hinata!"
"Nao - hey! I was gonna introduce myself first! Pig! Worthless toilet paper! Clueless bug! Go die you useless piece of-"
Kaede took his arm, guiding past them. He was distantly aware of them falling back, their arguments somehow comforting if annoying. Something made him duck as a figure shot towards him, a slender figure who slid over his head to tackle the blue haired girl and put her in a headlock. "~!"
"It feels… comforting…" he muttered, after a moment. She nodded, before blinking at him again. "There's a fly with a battleaxe. On your shoulder. And a mosquito waving a stick on the other."
He blinked at her, twisting his head to see what she meant, pausing halfway to blink at another man eating ramen. "Who are…?"
"Five dan. I heard something about food."
"Yeah, but that was…" he trailed off, shaking his head before smiling at Kaede and walking further. He didn't bother to comment anymore when another girl joined, her screams making him smile as she gathered them all together.
"So shallow… Shallow… Shallow… Shallow…"
"You always say that," he muttered, glancing around and blinking. "Why did I say that?"
"Felt right," supplied Kaede. He nodded, walking down the street as the others fell in stride. Pushing up glasses, or simply walking forward. One grinned was grinning like an idiot, and another had a computer. But whoever they were, it simply felt right.
"Wait… Do I even like spicy food?"
