Ferb

Linda looked across the room to see her three bored children. They were all young, the oldest being eight, and the boys being three, almost four. Candace got up from her place and asked her what they could do, whining a little.

Linda thought about this for a moment. "Maybe you could help your brothers learn to write their names. They need to learn it eventually."

The girl's little face lit up and she ran back to the boys. Linda tried to continue reading her book, but couldn't. She enjoyed listening to her kids.

"First, I want you to try to spell it without me!" She heard Candace enstruct very teacher-like. The boys had already learned the alphabet some and the sounds each letter made. Linda trusted that they could learn, and her daughter teach them.

"Candace!" Phineas yelled. "Did I do it right?" The three gathered around a piece of paper. There was silence until Candace answered.

"No. You put an 'f' when it should be a 'p,' 'h.'"

"Why? That doesn't make sense."

The girl took time to think of a way to explain it. "Your name is special. 'p' and 'h' will sound like 'f' together. Does that make sense?"

He mulled it over in his tiny, yet gigantic brain. "I guess so."

"Great." The girl grinned and moved onto her step brother. "How's it going?"

The quiet, green haired boy handed her a paper, and she told him how he did. "You spelled the 'd' backwards, Ferdinand, but still: good job." Then quietly, she laughed to herself. "Ferb."

Linda laughed quietly, too. Ferb… That's actually kind of cute…

Author's note: what is Ferb short for?!
