Story summary: i wont ruin it for you, but this story involves vampires(maybe ;) ), romance, adventure, it is a quite exciting story, this is just the first chapter. It kicks off at a fairly slow pace but let me know what you think, give me some ideas, lets make this a really good story. The rest is unwritten.
"Call me everyday, ok?" My mother tried between sobs.
"i'll do my best mum,"i said as she pulled me into a hug "C'mon mum, stop crying, it's ok."
Tim was loading my bags into my fiat, while my arms were trapped in the death grip. Thank god i wasn't an only child, and Tim was here to actually persuade mum to let me move. How could i ever have complained about having an older brother?
"i'm so-sor-sorry." Mum gasped. She tried to calm herself. "it's j-just you're only seventeen, a-and you're already leaving home!" The last words were a hysteric cry.
"mum it's better like this, i need to go. What opportunities are there for me here?" i patted her back.
"I'll miss you so much honey!" She whaled. Loudly.
"... i'll miss you too mum." I tried to pry free of her death grip, but there was no use.
Tim loaded the last of my stuff into the car and pulled our mother off me. "Mum, she's going to be with Darren remember? He's a good kid, he'll look after her." Even though Tim was only barely a year older than Darren, he liked to remember it. "besides, I'll be visiting whether they like it or not." He winked at me.
That was the condition to me moving to London; that I'd live with Darren. Mum had known him since before i was born. He was a couple of years ahead of me, but that was mum's condition, and it was fine by me.
I'd walked to my car door purposely without giving Tim any notice. "hey, can't a bro get some love around here?"
"Oh, yeah," i said as i opend the driver's door. "thanks for loading my stuff."
He looked at me for a few seconds in utter disbelief before i slammed the door and ran to him. We hugged eachother tightly for a few moments, and then he held me at arms length. "Take care of yourself, kiddo."
"Love you, Bro."
"Love you too sis."
I almost managed to escape without another crushing from mum. Almost, but not quite. i waved and cried as i drove away from my family and towards the rest of my life.
The drive was four hours long from our house in wet, quiet Wales to my new home in London. It gave me too much time to think. What would school be like? Would i meet anyone? Oh, god, would Darren bring girls back to the apartment? Get it together, Kasia, you're just getting cold feet. You want this.
And i did want it. I wanted freedom, i wanted to write my own destiny and make my own choices; all that crap. I never felt like i was getting what i wanted out of life living in somewhere so quiet. I had city girl written all over me.
With The Killers blaring from my speakers and the sun shining bright as i crossed the severn bridge, my mood lifted and i couldn't wait to just get to Darrens place. My place.
