Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter, or Severus Snape, or what happens to him in 1980. I do own the song.
Lost, unsure, and misdirected
Not knowing my place in this world
Out of the blue, so unexpected
Watched the petals of a flower uncurl.
I saw a future in your smile
That would take me away from this place.
A magic I haven't seen in awhile
Seemed to light up your whole face.
Chorus
As long as I'm looking out of these two eyes
I'll always be looking for you.
As long as I'm searching, I know you're the prize
And I'll search 'til I find that it's true.
I don't know the meaning of this repetitive breathing
If it won't bring me to where you are.
So hold on... and I'll get that far.
For so many people, love fades away
They grow up and apart with the years.
It happened to you, but still to this day
You're the passion that's feeding my tears.
I keep hoping you'll return
That you'll see all we had was for real.
But I know that you'll never unlearn
How to disregard all that you feel.
Chorus
No light or darkness or pledge of allegiance
Is worth more to me than your love.
Whatever it takes, I will fight for your freedom
And whatever else you might dream of.
Chorus
A/N: (I wanted to put the note at the end, so you could read it on your own before you hear what I think). To me, this is Snape reflecting on his friendship/romance with Lily from the first verse through the second chorus. Then he finds out that his Dark Lord has targeted her. And he'll do anything to save her, anything at all she asks. (Even, perhaps, protect her son?)
