Poison Prince

And he's looking at me now but what he can't see

Is that I'm looking through his eyes, so many lies behind his eyes

"Rocket, what happened to you?"

Tia was most taken aback by his eyes.

Rocket's eyes were two golden pieces on his dark skin that were always warm and a tad bit inviting and hopeful when they focused on her.

Right now, his eyes were fierce. Something was lurking beneath the surface, trying to find a way out, in need of an outlet. She could almost recall its bits sweeping through them at times before, when he would get angry on the field or carried away as he kissed her... but it was always well reserved. He would take a deep breath and concentrate, get off of her forcefully and when he'd open his eyes, he would be loving, caring Rocket again.

Locked-in. Secured, away from her.

She had wanted to see it. She had wanted to reach into the part of him that he would keep from the world even as her gut instinct screamed at her to stay away from it. She hadn't been scared either way; all she wanted was for him to not feel the need to keep things from her. She wanted to share and she wanted to understand.

Now as she watched the wide screen focused on his eyes, unfazed by the fact that he was locked in with one of the scariest persons anyone had seen –the only feeling visible being anger- as selfish as that felt even to herself, she thought she should have trusted her instinct and never wished for him to open up.

Months later, when he had come back to her, back to the team and convinced everyone that he was back to normal; he was staring at her from across the room as he pretended to listen to what Micro-Ice was telling him and she was throwing sideways glances inbetween her conversation with Mei and Yuki.

He didn't notice it, but he had never concealed the monster back in as safely as before. She had tricked herself into believing he one day would, until she had come across a footage of him breaking through Luur's Heat for the first time a few days ago. The same darkness was there. It was not one bit less than when he had been in the Sphere, and it was still trying to find a way out.

Sure he acted like before, did his usual things, paid her the same compliments and got enthusiastic over flowers and machines and what else.

But he didn't know.

She was able to look through his lies now.

Got my muse back, whether that's a good thing or not.

I feel there is so much missing in this but I can't point my finger on what right now... feedback is much appreciated. Thank you.
