The floor felt hard on his back but the hands around his neck promised nothing but a quick and easy death. What irony that this girl, so kind and gentle, would bring about his demise but then, he'd prefer her hands to the pain of a bullet wound to his head.
Yuuki looked half-deranged as she straddled him with her hands whispering comfort and death on his neck. She was babbling something but the words cannot compare with her face, especially those eyes that had done everything but spite him for all that he is.
'I thought that maybe, if I could be someone Zero needs..'
It was pure torture, what she did to him. He knew that she loved that man and yet here she was saying those words that hurt more than the fangs that had sunk into his neck four years ago. Yet he couldn't hate her for that, Her cruelty was in her compassion and he couldn't spite her for the very thing that tied her to him in the first place (or was it the other way around?).
'That's funny.' He tried to keep the bitterness to a minimum but he could taste it in every note that fell on his tongue.
'It's like you're desperately trying to say that you need me. But it's Kaname-kun that you really need.' All his false bravado quivered under the weight of his pain but his face bore only the slightest hints of resignation. Truth is a fragile thing but it breaks the strongest as a child would a twig – far too easily. There are those who try everything to cover or else dress it up but that day, in the filtering light of dusk, the truth is laid bare for all to see and Kiryuu Zero bears it.
'Kaname, Kaname, Kaname. Don't you ever think that maybe it's you I need?'
Zero awoke to find tears on his face and his heart in pieces around his bedroom floor.
Aaw, poor Zero ne? I'm extremely fond of this pairing!! Yuuki x Zero; a friendship on the edge. Oh well, I love Kaname as well but Zero just owns me :). Ja ne!
