We were doomed from the start. We were never meant to be apart of the successful timelines. Everything we ever did, everything we do, doesn't matter. We never mattered…
Now, as Lord English stood before us, we knew one more thing wouldn't matter.
Our deaths.
The moment he appeared in the rainbow of colors, we knew we were in trouble. I looked around me, searching frantically for someone, anyone, to look back at me, but they were all transfixed on the beast before them. I looked forward, practically blinded by the flashing colors. From the corner of my eye I saw a pair of eyes, hidden by dark glasses, glancing at me. "dave…?" He stared with that pokerface expression of his. His face may not have been showing any emotion, but I saw everything in his eyes. He was afraid too. "yeah man…" We both knew what neither wanted to say. "d-..dave…" I was trembling now, "we're going to die, aren't we?" He only stared at me, the beast's color shining and reflecting off of his glasses, then nodded. "yeah…yeah…we are going to die." I began to turn away but stopped myself. If these were my final moments, I didn't want to be alone. "hey john.." he asked. I kept my eyes on him the entire time he spoke. "yeah?" He broke his pokerface. Tears grew and rolled from his eyes. My already shorts breaths became shuddered. I didn't know I was crying, but now it was uncontrollable. I choked out my answer again, "y-yea-yeah dave?" He bit his lip and removed his glasses, revealing his ruby eyes. The blinding colors were slowly being torn apart by a beam of light. I shut my eyes, the colors too bright. "dave? Da-"
"don't look"
The sharpness of his tone startled me. I didn't want to be alone. Not now. Not to die. I called out,"DAV-"
But it didn't matter. We were already dead.
And it didn't matter.
