The young country of England stomped through the field angrily. His brothers had once again humiliated him. And then he noticed the overly dress blonde sitting in the field enjoying the flowers. He sighed in a little bit of relief; it was just France, that idiot knew practically no English but still it was good to rant about problem from time to time.
"Hey! Frog!" the blond boy whipped his head around and smiled, "Bonjour Angleterre~" the blond smiled happily at the smaller boy as he sat down beside him. "Comment allez-vous aujourd'hui? [How are you today?]" England shook his head, "English, France, I barely understand you." The French-boy looked at him trying to compute what he just said before a face of realization crossed his features; his mouth making a small "oh" shape before nodding.
"S-sorry...I'm...bad at Anglais…" England only nodded.
"You're improving though, soon maybe we can have a civil conversation without you struggling."
France only stared at him confused before laying down on his back and looking up at the sky he lazily pointed to two clouds, "I see...un lapin et une alouette [a rabbit and a lark ]." England laid down and looked at the clouds France was pointing at.
France giggled, "Ils sont amis [They are friends]." England squinted and shook his head, he saw the rabbit but the one that was supposed to be the lark and changed and now looked more like a frog.
"It is obviously a rabbit and a frog fighting, Frog-face."
France pouted at the tone of his voice and he watched the rabbit and the lark/frog change because of the breeze. The rabbit morphed into what France would call a young Prince but England just said it was a girl. The frog changed into to France a princess and to England a Prince. France giggled imagining the story in his head and loving the part where they kissed and wed.
England stared at the clouds as they just became a blob of white before turning to the giggling France. France's eyes were focused on the sky but he could tell by the distant look France was in another world. A light blush dusted his cheeks as he remembered the clouds. There wasn't really a reason why he called France frog unlike his less used nickname of Lapin [rabbit] which was due to him being found with his rabbit friends.
What was it about France that made him feel so angry and confused yet also...right? He quickly looked away when he saw France blink and come back to the real world. He stared up at the sky thinking about his life, how he hated his brothers, how if he ever got a little brother he would love him and make sure he was treated right; no abused and never has to worry about oncoming threats.
He stared upwards in shock , coming back from his thoughts, when he felt a light kiss placed on his cheek. He turned to find France closed to him with a light rosy blush tinting his cheeks. "Merci mon petit lapin [My little rabbit]," England felt his face getting red before he scrambled up and tried to hide his face in his cloaks hood, "W-what was that for?"
France only giggled and got up, "See you later, England~!" he cried back at the small island nation as he skipped away. England stared in shock; France actually said something in English correctly despite his thick accent. His face slowly faded to a faint pink glow and he lightly touched the spot he was kissed. He'd never admit it but he felt whole inside thanks to that small gesture.
"A bientĂ´t, France. [See you soon,] See you soon."
